“People are stopped every day for 10 to 15 minutes,” Para said while speaking in the Assembly.
He said commuters were being stopped on a daily basis, adding to difficulties for people travelling for work, medical treatment and other essential purposes.
Para also said that security measures introduced after an attack should not result in ordinary people feeling humiliated or unfairly treated.
“Just one attack cannot give a sense of discrimination and humiliate the common people of Kashmir,” the PDP legislator said.
His remarks came during the ongoing autumn session of the J&K Legislative Assembly, where members have been raising issues related to public inconvenience and security restrictions.
National Conference MLA Abdul Majid Larmi also raised concerns about the difficulties faced by people travelling between Qazigund and Srinagar, saying repeated stoppages could affect students, patients and other travellers.
Larmi said that some students could miss examinations while travellers could also face problems reaching the airport on time because of delays on the highway.
