Prof. Sandhya Tiwari praised the Urdu Department for moving quickly to update its courses. She specifically commended Dr. Nusrat Jabeen, who successfully organized the workshop and finalized the syllabus revision within just one month of taking over as Head of the Department (HoD).

To ensure the new one-year PG program meets modern societal and academic demands, Prof. Tiwari recommended incorporating three critical areas into the coursework:

  • Skill Education: Practical training to boost employability.
  • Women-Centric Literature: Elevating diverse voices and perspectives.
  • Ecocriticism: Exploring the relationship between literature and the environment.

Additionally, the Dean suggested that postgraduate students should be assigned research supervisors by their third semester. This strategy will allow students to begin their research projects early and work more systematically.

Alignment with NEP-2020

Dr. Nusrat Jabeen emphasized that regularly updating the curriculum is essential to keeping the discipline relevant and maintaining high academic standards.

During the two-day event, participants thoroughly analyzed course content, learning objectives, and expected outcomes to align everything with the National Education Policy (NEP-2020). The collaborative effort successfully resulted in a fully structured, forward-looking syllabus for the new postgraduate track.

Looking ahead to the upcoming school year, Prof. Tiwari encouraged students from all over the country to apply to the university. The lecture was delivered by university alumnus Kamraan Khan, a Human Resource professional with more than 13 years of experience across leading organisations in India and the United Arab Emirates.

Speaking on the occasion, Head of the Department Dr. Mushtaq Lone highlighted the importance of industry-oriented academic initiatives in enhancing students’ practical knowledge and professional exposure. He said the department would continue organising alumni lecture series to strengthen alumni-academia engagement and benefit students.

Kamraan Khan has worked with several reputed companies including Amazon, Noon, Landmark Group, ACKO, Life Healthcare, and Coal India, where he contributed to workforce planning, talent management, and HR transformation projects.

Currently based in Dubai, he is developing an AI-native Human Resource Management System through his venture “ZaitoonHR” aimed at supporting small and medium-sized enterprises.

During the session, Khan discussed the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in Human Resource Management and explained how AI is transforming recruitment, employee engagement, workforce analytics, and organisational decision-making.

He also highlighted the opportunities and challenges involved in integrating AI into HR systems and practices. Students were provided practical insights into modern HR trends and industry expectations in an increasingly AI-driven environment.

Dr. Mir Insha Farooq, Academic Coordinator, presented the vote of thanks. Dr. Waseem Jahangir was also present during the programme.

According to an official notification issued by the university, candidates whose results have been declared by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) or the Central Universities Entrance Test (CUET) and who have submitted their forms can now complete the registration process till May 30, 2026, up to 11:55 PM.

The university said the extension has been provided in continuation of the earlier admission notification issued on April 28, 2026.

Officials added that all other terms and conditions mentioned in the previous notification will remain unchanged.

Candidates have been advised to visit the university’s official website for detailed information regarding admissions and registration procedures.

The event, titled “Regret of Shakespeare,” was performed by research scholar and theatre artist Nizar Ilthumish.

Performance Held at Tulmulla Campus

The play was staged at the amphitheatre of the university’s Tulmulla Campus and was attended by A Ravinder Nath, Shahid Rasool, Nisar Ahmad Mir and other dignitaries.

Unique Shakespeare Courtroom Drama

The performance was an experimental theatre presentation based on five well-known characters from the works of William Shakespeare.

It featured a courtroom-style setting where Shakespeare’s characters appeared as prosecutors, witnesses and jury members. The drama explored themes of tragedy, justice and moral conflict while symbolically presenting Shakespeare’s defence.

The audience appreciated the creative concept and strong solo performance.

Vice Chancellor Praises Cultural Initiative

Vice Chancellor A Ravinder Nath praised the performance and expressed hope that such programmes would become a regular part of the university’s academic and cultural life.

He also highlighted the need to expand the department into a future School of Arts and Media Studies, especially if more young talent continues to emerge.

The Central University of Kashmir has started a four-day Hindi training programme for employees at its Tulmulla campus. The programme is being held under the university’s Rajbhasha Cell as part of its Hindi language learning initiative.

While opening the programme, Registrar Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir praised the participation of representatives from several institutions. He said such programmes help build stronger ties between institutions and create useful opportunities for learning and sharing ideas.

He added that nearly six institutions are taking part, showing the importance of the programme in the region.

Dr. Mir also appreciated the efforts of the Rajbhasha Cell for organising the event. He said Hindi is becoming more important in official communication and employees should learn to read, write, and speak the language confidently.

The main resource person, Dr. Rameshwar Lal Meena, Assistant Director (Languages) at the Central Hindi Training Institute, explained the structure of Hindi courses offered by the Government of India.

He said the courses include Hindi Prabodh, Praveen, Pragya, and Parangat, which are designed to gradually improve language skills among government employees.

Dr. Meena said the programme is not only about learning Hindi but also about improving office work, confidence, and transparency. He added that using Hindi helps direct communication with citizens and supports a more responsive governance system.

During the inaugural session, university Librarian Dr. Nazir Ahmad Bhat said Hindi is becoming more important in governance and institutional communication.He encouraged employees to use both online and offline learning tools to improve their Hindi skills and meet the growing need for official correspondence in Hindi.

Hindi Adhikari Dr. Sakina Akhter, who conducted the programme, explained the work of the Rajbhasha Cell. She said many employees are now able to handle official communication in Hindi after proper training.

The seminar, titled “From Observations to Insight: Understanding Plant Invasions,” was held by the Department of Botany, School of Life Sciences, at the university’s Science Campus.

Scientists, teachers, researchers, and students attended the event to discuss ecological challenges and scientific solutions.
