NC MLAs, Senior Leaders Hold Protest Near Delhi House, Demand Restoration of J&K Statehood

The protest formed part of the party’s nationwide campaign urging the Centre to fulfil its commitment to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood. Party leaders carried placards and raised slogans, calling on the Union Government to introduce and pass a statehood restoration Bill during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah travelled to New Delhi to join the protest alongside NC president Farooq Abdullah, MPs, MLAs and other senior leaders. The party maintained that restoring statehood is essential for strengthening democratic institutions and protecting the constitutional rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The National Conference has repeatedly asserted that the restoration of statehood was promised by the Union Government and should now be implemented without further delay. Party leaders urged Parliament to take up the issue during the current session, describing it as a matter of public mandate and constitutional importance.

The protest remained peaceful under tight security, with police deployed around the demonstration site to maintain law and order. The NC leadership said it would continue its democratic campaign until Jammu and Kashmir regains full statehood.
