The temperature is the highest recorded in the summer season so far, with heatwave-like conditions affecting normal life in the city. Many people preferred to remain indoors during the afternoon as the scorching heat reduced activity in markets, parks and other public places.

Health experts have advised residents to stay well hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and take extra care during the hottest hours of the day. They have also urged parents, senior citizens and people with existing medical conditions to take necessary precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses.

The soaring temperatures have led to a sharp increase in the demand for electricity and drinking water, as households relied heavily on fans, air coolers and other cooling appliances to beat the heat.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department is closely monitoring the weather situation and has urged the public to follow official weather advisories, noting that weather conditions could change in the coming days.

Residents have been advised to limit outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, drink plenty of fluids and seek medical attention immediately if they experience symptoms of heat exhaustion or heatstroke.
