J&K Government Extends Summer Vacation for Kashmir, Winter Zone Schools Till July 22

Announcing the decision, Minister for School Education and Higher Education, Sakina Itoo, said the extension was made in the interest of students’ safety due to the prevailing weather conditions.
Taking to X, the minister posted:
“In view of the prevailing weather conditions, it has been decided to extend the summer vacation for all Government and recognized private schools in the Kashmir Division and the winter zones of Jammu Division up to 22nd July (Wednesday).”
The decision comes as Kashmir continues to experience unusually high temperatures, with Srinagar recently recording its hottest day of the season. Weather authorities have also issued advisories warning of changing weather conditions in the coming days.
The extension applies to all government and recognised private schools in the Kashmir Division and the winter zones of Jammu Division. Schools are now scheduled to reopen on Thursday, July 23, 2026, unless any further order is issued by the government.
The move has been welcomed by parents and students, as it provides relief from the ongoing extreme weather conditions while ensuring the safety and well-being of schoolchildren.
