Man Jumps into River Jhelum at Sempora, SDRF Launches Rescue Operation
Srinagar: A rescue operation was launched on Thursday after a man allegedly jumped into the River Jhelum at Sempora in the Pantha Chowk area of Srinagar, officials said. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
According to officials, the incident took place at Sempora, following which the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was immediately informed. Rescue teams rushed to the spot and began a search operation to trace the missing man.
The individual was later identified as Maqsood Ahmad Mir, son of Gulzar Ahmad Mir, a resident of Balhama, Pantha Chowk.
Officials said the rescue operation was still underway when the last reports were received, and efforts were continuing to locate the man.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognisance of the incident and started an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the man jumping into the river.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the reason behind the incident, and further details are awaited as the rescue operation continues.
