Member of Parliament from Baramulla, Engineer Rashid, was unable to travel to Delhi with his critically ill father due to court-imposed movement restrictions, his party said on Sunday.
According to the Awami Itihaad Party (AIP), Rashid’s father, Khazir Mohammad Sheikh, was first admitted at SMHS Hospital in Srinagar. After his health condition worsened, doctors advised shifting him to AIIMS Delhi for advanced treatment. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
AIP chief spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said that court restrictions limited Rashid’s movement only between his Jawahar Nagar residence and the hospital. Because of this, he could not travel to Delhi with his father.
Nabi described the situation as very painful, saying that a son could not stay with his father during a critical time despite being nearby. He added that Rashid was deeply upset and emotional after being unable to accompany his father.
The party has announced that it will approach the High Court on Monday to seek permission for Rashid to travel to Delhi and stay with his father. AIP called the matter humanitarian and requested urgent consideration.
Nabi also appealed to the authorities to take a compassionate view. He asked people to pray for Sheikh’s recovery and thanked the doctors and medical staff for their care and support.
The incident has raised concerns about balancing legal restrictions with humanitarian needs in difficult situations.
