Ravinder Raina on Saturday accused the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference-led government of running a “massive transfer corruption racket” involving postings and transfers of engineers in different government departments. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The former BJP J&K president alleged that a minister in the government headed by Omar Abdullah, along with some senior officials, was involved in taking large bribes for favourable postings of Executive Engineers (XENs), Assistant Executive Engineers (AEEs), and Junior Engineers (JEs).
According to Raina, several officers were allegedly forced to pay huge amounts of money for desired postings and were later asked to pay again if changes were made to their transfer orders.
“Some engineers have been transferred three times in just one year. This clearly shows a well-organised transfer industry operating within the government,” Raina claimed.
The BJP leader further said he possessed evidence and statements from affected officials and challenged the Chief Minister to take strict action against those allegedly involved.
He also offered to submit all documents and proof if the government initiated an inquiry into the matter.
Raina criticised the silence of both the Chief Minister and anti-corruption agencies over the allegations and demanded immediate intervention.
The allegations come amid continuing political attacks by the BJP against the National Conference-Congress alliance government over issues related to governance and administration in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Omar Abdullah government had not issued any official response to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
