Speaking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), the Director said that Verinag will be promoted through digital campaigns, social media influencers, and partnerships with travel platforms. The aim is to increase awareness and bring more visitors to the destination.

Verinag is famous for its Mughal-era garden and natural spring. Mughal Emperor Jahangir once called it the “source of the Jhelum.” The department plans to highlight this historical importance to attract both heritage and nature tourists.

To improve visitor experience, the department is planning better signboards, information panels, and night lighting at the site. These changes will make the place more attractive and informative for tourists.

Officials also said that Verinag will be developed as a stopping point on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. Plans include clean washrooms, improved roadside facilities, and an upgraded cafeteria.

In addition, new activities like short trekking routes and special photography spots are being considered to make the destination more engaging.

Overall, these efforts aim to turn Verinag into a well-developed tourist spot, combining natural beauty, history, and modern facilities.
