The event, titled “Regret of Shakespeare,” was performed by research scholar and theatre artist Nizar Ilthumish.

Performance Held at Tulmulla Campus

The play was staged at the amphitheatre of the university’s Tulmulla Campus and was attended by A Ravinder Nath, Shahid Rasool, Nisar Ahmad Mir and other dignitaries.

Unique Shakespeare Courtroom Drama

The performance was an experimental theatre presentation based on five well-known characters from the works of William Shakespeare.

It featured a courtroom-style setting where Shakespeare’s characters appeared as prosecutors, witnesses and jury members. The drama explored themes of tragedy, justice and moral conflict while symbolically presenting Shakespeare’s defence.

The audience appreciated the creative concept and strong solo performance.

Vice Chancellor Praises Cultural Initiative

Vice Chancellor A Ravinder Nath praised the performance and expressed hope that such programmes would become a regular part of the university’s academic and cultural life.

He also highlighted the need to expand the department into a future School of Arts and Media Studies, especially if more young talent continues to emerge.

Call for Wider Media and Arts Studies

Dean Academic Affairs Shahid Rasool congratulated the performer and appreciated the portrayal of five Shakespearean characters by one artist.

He also shared a vision of expanding the department to include more subjects such as theatre and fine arts under a School of Media Studies.

Faculty Members Attend Event

Earlier, Arif Nazir introduced the theme of the play and stressed the importance of such cultural events on university campuses.

Faculty members including Asif Khan, John Babu and Nookaraju were also present.
