Violence Erupted During Student Demonstration

The incident occurred on 25 July, when students organised demonstrations in Siwan as part of a statewide bandh protesting the alleged NEET question paper leak and police action against student protesters.

According to police, some disruptive elements entered the demonstration, leading to clashes between protesters and security personnel.

Officials said protesters allegedly damaged public property and threw stones at police. Security forces responded by using tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. The alleged use of an AK-47 during the operation later became the focus of the investigation.


Several Police Personnel Injured

The clashes left several police officers injured, including:

  • Nagar Police Station in-charge Avinash Kumar

Officials said around 30 police personnel sustained injuries during the violence.


Three FIRs Registered, 300 People Booked

Police have registered three First Information Reports (FIRs) in connection with the incident.

According to officials:

  • Around 100 people have been named as accused.
  • Cases have also been registered against nearly 200 unidentified persons.
  • Police are conducting raids to identify and arrest those involved.

Authorities said around 25 accused have already been sent to jail after undergoing medical examinations at Sadar Hospital in Siwan.

Three Protesters Suffer Bullet Injuries

Officials said three protesters sustained bullet injuries during the violence and are currently receiving treatment at Medanta Hospital in Patna.
