M Y Tarigami Condemns Threats Against Kashmiri Pandits, Calls for Protection of J&K’s Pluralistic Fabric

Tarigami’s remarks came amid reports that the government had sent some Kashmiri Pandit employees on leave as a precautionary measure following threats against members of the community.
‘Threats Are Highly Condemnable’
Reacting to the reports, Tarigami said threats against Kashmiri Pandits were unacceptable and should be condemned without any political or ideological considerations.
“Threats against Kashmiri Pandits, which have prompted the government to send them on leave as a precautionary measure, are highly condemnable,” Tarigami said.
He described the Kashmiri Pandit community as an “inseparable part” of Kashmir’s cultural and social fabric, stressing that any threats against its members must be rejected unequivocally.
Calls for Protection of All Communities
Tarigami said threats allegedly issued by militants represented a direct challenge to Kashmir’s tradition of people from different communities living together.
“Such threats by militants are an assault on Kashmir’s tradition of inclusivity and coexistence and deserve unequivocal condemnation, cutting across political and ideological differences,” he said.
The CPI(M) leader stressed that the safety and security of all communities living in Jammu and Kashmir must remain a priority.
He also called for continued efforts to protect and preserve the region’s pluralistic social fabric, saying that peace and coexistence were essential for Jammu and Kashmir’s future.
