AIP Welcomes Approval of Uri and Sopore Road Projects, Credits MP Er Rashid’s Efforts
SRINAGAR: The Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) has welcomed the approval of two long-awaited road projects in Uri and Sopore, saying the development reflects the continued efforts of Baramulla MP Er Rashid to address public issues despite his prolonged incarceration. AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said Er Rashid had consistently raised development-related concerns affecting remote areas of the Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency through his legal representatives.
Road Projects Raised Through Official Letters
According to Inam Un Nabi, MP Er Rashid wrote to the Roads and Buildings Department through D.O. Letter No. MP/BLA/2025/77 dated 2 July 2025, urging the government to repair and upgrade the Harwan to Marble Road via Yemberzalwari in Sopore.
He said the letter highlighted the difficulties faced by local residents due to years of poor road infrastructure.
In another communication, D.O. Letter No. MP/BLA/2025/81 dated 24 July 2025, addressed to the Principal Secretary of the Public Works (R&B) Department, Er Rashid requested the upgradation of the Government High School Bimyar to Ziarat Sharif Moriyan Road in Uri.
According to AIP, the road is an important link for the people of Moriyan and neighbouring villages.
Government Approves Both Projects
Inam Un Nabi said the Jammu and Kashmir Government has now approved both road projects and invited tenders through the Office of the Chief Engineer, PMGSY (JKRRDA), Kashmir under E-NIT No. 03/CE/PMGSY/KMR of 2026–27 dated 15 June 2026.
The approved projects include:
- Package No. JK03-4544: Construction and maintenance of the road from L028 (Link Road) Bimyar to Mooriya via Pethgrann in Uri.
- Package No. JK03-4011: Construction and maintenance of the road from L075 (Link Road) Bomia-Harwan-Zaloora (3rd KM) to Yemberzaewari in Sopore.
AIP Says Projects Reflect People’s Aspirations
Inam Un Nabi said the approval of the projects demonstrates that Er Rashid has remained committed to the welfare of his constituents despite the challenges he faces.
He said improved road connectivity would help thousands of residents by making travel easier and supporting development in the two regions.
“The people had waited for years for these roads. Today, it is satisfying to see that their voices have finally been heard and translated into action,” Inam Un Nabi said.
Call for Timely Completion
The AIP spokesperson expressed hope that the executing agencies would complete both projects within the scheduled timeframe while maintaining high construction standards.
He said durable road infrastructure would greatly benefit the people of Uri and Sopore, who have long awaited improved connectivity.
