Security forces on Saturday apprehended a terrorist associate in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district and recovered arms and explosive material during a joint operation in the Rajpora area, officials said.
Officials told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) that acting on specific intelligence inputs, a joint team comprising Police, Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF’s 183 Battalion launched a cordon and search operation in the Qasbayar locality along CB Nath Road in Rajpora. During the operation, a suspect identified as Mohammad Umar Malik, a resident of Kachipora, was taken into custody. Officials said that a pistol, a magazine, live ammunition and two hand grenades were recovered from his possession.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 75/2026 at Police Station Rajpora under relevant sections of the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), officials added, stating that further investigation is underway.
