Veteran Kashmir Student Leader Anwar Ashai Dies at 10 am, Funeral Prayers to Be Held in Srinagar

Anwar Ashai was the son of noted educationist and freedom fighter late Ghulam Ahmad Ashai.

He became associated with student activism in Kashmir during the 1960s, a period when organised student movements were beginning to emerge in the Valley.

Over the decades, Ashai remained associated with Kashmir’s wider student and political movements. His long public life made him a familiar figure among several generations of activists and political workers.
