Two Arrested for Alleged Gang Rape, Filming Assault in J&K’s Baramulla: Police

According to official sources, the police action was initiated following a formal complaint stating that the two accused committed sexual assault against the victim and filmed the incident on a mobile device to intimidate and blackmail her.
Swift Police Action
Taking immediate cognizance of the matter, a dedicated police team was constituted to trace and apprehend the suspects. Both accused were rounded up and taken into custody shortly after the complaint was lodged.
“A formal case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology (IT) Act. Both accused are currently in custody, and further investigation is actively underway,” a police official said.
Investigation and Electronic Evidence
Police confirmed that the mobile devices used to film the criminal act have been confiscated and sent for technical and forensic analysis to preserve digital evidence. Standard procedures, including medical evaluation and recording legal statements, are being carried out in accordance with statutory guidelines.
Authorities have issued a strict warning to the public against circulating, sharing, or forwarding any video clip related to the incident on messaging platforms or social media, emphasizing that sharing non-consensual or sexually explicit material is a serious criminal offense under the law.
