US Ambassador Sergio Gor Arrives in Leh on First Ladakh Visit After Meeting Omar Abdullah
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor arrived in Leh on Thursday on his maiden visit to Ladakh, officials said.
The visit came a day after Gor met Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Srinagar.According to officials, the US envoy left Srinagar for Leh on Thursday morning and later arrived in the Union Territory of Ladakh. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Gor had reached Srinagar on Wednesday, where he held a meeting with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. After the meeting, the US Ambassador described the interaction as “very good” and “very cordial.”
Gor, who also serves as the US Envoy to South and Central Asia, said Jammu and Kashmir is an important part of India.
Speaking to reporters after his meeting with the Chief Minister, Gor said he was visiting the region for the first time in his capacity as US Ambassador to India.
His visit to Ladakh is his first since taking up the diplomatic assignment and comes as part of his engagement with the region.
