Omar made the remarks ahead of his scheduled meeting with US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, who is arriving in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday for his maiden visit to the region.
Gor is scheduled to meet both Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Srinagar.
Omar Abdullah Rules Out Seeking US Intervention
Speaking to reporters, Omar said he would discuss Jammu and Kashmir and the situation in the region with the US envoy, but would neither complain about the issues nor seek solutions from him.
He said the meeting was taking place after a long gap and that he was looking forward to the interaction.
“I would prefer to listen to him more, but he is also coming to listen. Let us see what kind of discussion takes place,” Omar said.
The Chief Minister’s remarks underline his position that matters concerning Jammu and Kashmir should be addressed through India’s own political and constitutional framework rather than through foreign intervention.
Omar Reviews Development Projects in Srinagar
Earlier in the day, Omar Abdullah conducted an early-morning tour of Srinagar and reviewed several ongoing development projects.
He said most of the projects inspected during the visit were progressing satisfactorily.
However, he added that some projects required an additional push from the administration to ensure timely progress.
The Chief Minister has been regularly reviewing development works across the region, with a focus on improving infrastructure and speeding up the completion of ongoing projects.
Omar Responds to Corruption Allegations
Meanwhile, Omar Abdullah also responded to a question about allegations of corruption in appointments by the BJP.
He said the police, Crime Branch and Anti-Corruption Bureau were not under his control.
“If corruption has actually taken place, an investigation should be conducted, a case registered and action taken against those responsible,” he said.
The Chief Minister’s comments came as political parties continue to raise allegations and counter-allegations over appointments and governance in Jammu and Kashmir.
Omar’s meeting with US Ambassador Sergio Gor is expected to focus on Jammu and Kashmir and the wider situation in the region. However, based on his comments ahead of the meeting, he has made it clear that he does not intend to seek Washington’s intervention in matters that he believes should be resolved by New Delhi.
