Addressing the gathering at the Kargil War Memorial on the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas, Singh said Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir is an integral part of India that remains under Pakistan’s illegal occupation.
Operation Sindoor Sent Strong Message
Referring to Operation Sindoor, launched in May 2025 following the Pahalgam terror attack, the Defence Minister said the operation demonstrated India’s determination to respond firmly to terrorism.
He said the Indian Armed Forces had dealt a severe blow to those supporting terrorism and warned that anyone attempting to threaten India’s sovereignty and integrity would face a strong response.
According to Singh, India has the capability to respond to any misadventure by Pakistan in a manner “beyond their imagination.”
Sharp Criticism of Pakistan
The Defence Minister accused Pakistan of focusing on terrorism instead of development.
He said that while India is building ships, promoting innovation and establishing data centres, Pakistan is concentrating on infiltration, radicalisation and supporting terrorism.
Tribute to Kargil Heroes
Paying tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the 1999 Kargil War, Singh described India’s victory as “a diamond studded in the crown of Bharat Mata.”
He praised the courage and bravery of the armed forces, saying the success in Kargil was not only a military achievement but also a symbol of the nation’s determination and resilience.
Earlier in the day, Rajnath Singh, Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth, Ladakh Lieutenant Governor V. K. Saxena, and Northern Command GOC-in-C Lt Gen Pratik Sharma paid floral tributes at the Kargil War Memorial.
As part of the commemorations, three military helicopters flying in an arrowhead formation showered flower petals over the memorial in honour of the soldiers who laid down their lives during the conflict.
