MP Mian Altaf Escapes Unhurt After Landslide Hits Vehicle on Jammu–Poonch Highway

According to officials, the landslide struck the highway as Mian Altaf’s convoy was on its way to inspect areas affected by recent heavy rainfall, flash floods and landslides. His vehicle became stranded after debris fell onto the road. However, the MP safely got out of the vehicle without sustaining any injuries.
Despite the incident, Mian Altaf continued his journey on foot to reach the affected villages and assess the flood situation firsthand. He was travelling to meet residents impacted by the recent natural disaster and review the ongoing relief and rescue efforts.
No injuries were reported in the incident. Authorities said intermittent landslides continue to occur along the Jammu–Poonch highway due to continuous rainfall, and travellers have been advised to exercise caution as restoration and clearance operations continue.
The Pir Panjal region has witnessed widespread destruction following days of heavy rain, flash floods and landslides, prompting large-scale rescue operations by the administration, Army, NDRF and SDRF. Several roads remain vulnerable to fresh landslides as adverse weather conditions persist across parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
