Mehbooba Mufti Calls for Protecting Rights and Dignity of Every Indian on Independence Day
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Independence Day called for making freedom meaningful for every Indian, saying that Independence is not only about celebrating a national occasion but also about protecting the rights and dignity of citizens.

“Independence is not merely the freedom to celebrate a day, it is the freedom to speak, to dissent, to dream and to live with dignity,” the party said.
Mehbooba Mufti Highlights Constitutional Rights
The PDP president urged citizens to renew their commitment to the principles of the Indian Constitution.
“On this Independence Day, let us reclaim the promise of our Constitution and make freedom meaningful for every Indian,” the party said in the post.
Her message placed emphasis on civil liberties, freedom of expression, dissent and the dignity of citizens as key aspects of India’s democratic values.

Mehbooba Mufti’s remarks came as India celebrated its 80th Independence Day on August 15.
The PDP leader concluded the message by extending Independence Day greetings to the people, while calling for greater efforts to ensure that constitutional freedoms and citizens’ rights remain meaningful in everyday life.
