Omar Abdullah Urges Full Security for Kashmiri Pandit Workers Amid Terror Threats

Speaking to reporters, Abdullah questioned how such threats could emerge when authorities have repeatedly said that militancy has ended in Jammu and Kashmir.

“We have been hearing time and again that militancy has ended in J-K, that now no one is left. But then this threat comes, so where is this threat from?” Abdullah said.

Omar Abdullah Calls for Action Against Threat Makers

The Chief Minister called for strict action against those responsible for issuing the reported threats.

He said security authorities should identify the people behind the messages and take appropriate action against them.

Abdullah also stressed that Kashmiri Pandit employees working in the Valley must be provided with adequate security arrangements.

Reminder of Earlier Targeted Killings

Abdullah referred to targeted killings that took place in Jammu and Kashmir in the past, particularly attacks against members of the minority community.

He said such incidents had created fear among Kashmiri Pandit employees, with some employees even preparing to leave the Valley.

“Many employees were preparing to flee from here. They were kept in their camps after being almost arrested. Gates were locked,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the latest threats should therefore not be dismissed and called for preventive security measures to protect the employees.

‘Threat Should Not Be Taken Lightly’

Abdullah reiterated that the reported threats require a serious response from the authorities responsible for security in Jammu and Kashmir.

“This threat should not be taken lightly. Action should be taken against the people behind this, and full security arrangements should be kept for these people,” he said.

His remarks come amid concerns over online threat messages reportedly targeting Kashmiri Pandit government employees working in the Valley, with calls growing for authorities to establish their source and authenticity.
