MeT Issues Weather Advisory for Jammu and Kashmir
The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Thursday issued a weather advisory predicting rain, thunderstorms, hailstorms and strong winds in several parts of Jammu and Kashmir over the next few hours.

Rain and Thunderstorms Expected
According to the MeT Department, many areas of Kashmir and Jammu divisions, including Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, Rajouri and Poonch, are likely to experience rain and thundershowers.
Weather activity is also expected along the Sonamarg-Baltal-Holy Cave route.
Officials said some places may witness brief but intense showers, thunderstorms, hailstorms and gusty winds during the next three to five hours.
People Advised to Stay Indoors
The department urged residents to remain indoors during thunderstorms and lightning activity.
People have also been advised to stay away from:
- Loose structures
- Electric wires and poles
- Old and weak trees
- Open areas during lightning
Hailstorm Warning for Several Areas
The advisory warned of possible hailstorms accompanied by heavy showers in:
- Tangdhar
- Kupwara
- Handwara
- Budgam
- Uri
- Kukernag
- Ganderbal
- Shopian
Flash Flood and Mudslide Risk
The MeT Department also warned that intense rainfall in some isolated areas could trigger flash floods and mudslides.
Areas at risk include:
- Tangdhar
- Kupwara
- Kukernag
- Banihal
- Kishtwar
- Budgam
Authorities have advised people living in vulnerable areas to remain alert and follow safety instructions issued by local administration.
The department said the weather situation will continue to be monitored closely and updates will be issued as required.
