VDG Member Killed, Another Injured in Udhampur

The incident took place in the remote Pancheri area when the VDG members were travelling towards the Damnot police post, according to officials.
VDG Member Killed in Firing
Officials said Surjeet Singh, a resident of Sasri Damnot, allegedly opened fire on his colleagues during an argument, killing Baldev Singh and seriously injuring Romesh Singh.
The injured VDG member was immediately shifted to hospital for treatment.
A police team also reached the area soon after receiving information about the incident and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Accused VDG Member Yet to Be Arrested
Police are making efforts to trace and arrest the accused, officials said.
The exact reason for the altercation has not yet been established. Investigators are also working to determine the sequence of events that led to the firing.
