Kulgam District Hospital Bans Medical Representatives from OPDs, Wards and Casualty During Duty Hours

By: Sheikh Mohammad Isa

According to an order issued by the Medical Superintendent and accessed by the news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), the restriction will remain in force every day from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The decision was taken after the hospital administration noticed that medical representatives were frequently visiting clinical areas during working hours. In some cases, they were also found interacting with patients and checking their prescriptions.

The hospital administration said such activities could affect patient care, disturb hospital discipline and interfere with the smooth functioning of clinical services.

Under the new directive, MRs have been barred from approaching doctors or patients in OPDs, wards, casualty and other patient-care areas for promotional or professional purposes during the restricted hours.

However, the order allows medical representatives to meet the concerned doctors after duty hours, provided their interactions do not disrupt patient care or the normal functioning of the hospital.

All consultants, medical officers, nursing staff, heads of sections and security personnel have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the order.

The Medical Superintendent has also warned that any violation of the directive will be taken seriously and may result in disciplinary action under the relevant rules.

The move is aimed at maintaining discipline within the hospital and ensuring that clinical staff can focus on patient care without unnecessary interruptions during working hours. (KNS)
