According to police, the chargesheet was presented before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar in FIR No. 09/2015 under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, and 201 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC).
Officials said the case was registered following a written complaint alleging tampering with the service records of the accused officer, who was then serving as In-Charge Superintendent Engineer and has now retired.
A police spokesperson said the investigation conducted by the Crime Branch, now functioning as EOW Kashmir, found that the accused had allegedly changed his date of birth from October 28, 1955 to October 28, 1958 in official records to extend his service tenure and secure additional benefits.
The alleged manipulation was reportedly confirmed through forensic verification reports from Forensic Science Laboratory Srinagar and the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE).
Police further stated that the accused also destroyed his original service book to conceal evidence, leading investigators to invoke Section 201 RPC related to destruction of evidence.
Officials said the investigation has now been completed and the matter has been placed before the court for judicial determination.
The Crime Branch also advised people to remain alert against economic fraud and report such incidents directly to SSP EOW Kashmir.
