AJKSA Announces Zul Hijjah Moon Not Sighted, Month to Begin on May 19

All Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association (AJKSA) on Sunday announced that the crescent moon for the holy month of Zul Hijjah 1447 AH was not sighted in Jammu and Kashmir or other parts of India. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

According to the AJKSA Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, moon sighting observations were carried out at the Meteorological Department office in Rambagh, Srinagar, in the presence of religious scholars and committee members.

After detailed observation and Shari’ah verification, the committee confirmed that no reliable or authenticated Sharai witness regarding the moon sighting was received from anywhere in the country.

Based on Islamic principles related to Ruet-e-Hilal and the absence of verified testimony, AJKSA announced that the 1st of Zul Hijjah 1447 AH will fall on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

The delegation participating in the moon sighting process was led by AJKSA spokesperson Molvi Sheikh Zakri and included Molvi Syed Mohammed, Imam-e-Jummah Gupkar Syed Gazanfer Rizvi, Molvi Firoz Ali of Jamia Imam Sadiq (AS), and AJKSA Media Incharge Rahi Shamshad.

The association also prayed for peace, unity, prosperity, and acceptance of ibadaat for the Muslim Ummah.
