Baramulla Athlete Ibadat Wali Completes 119-km Solo Run to Promote Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir

In an inspiring display of endurance and determination, 22-year-old athlete Ibadat Wali from Baramulla became the first athlete from North Kashmir to complete a 119-kilometre solo run from Lal Chowk, Anantnag, to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Office in Baramulla. Ibadat completed the challenging journey in 10 hours and 55 minutes, setting a remarkable milestone while spreading the message of the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan. The run aimed to encourage people, especially young people, to stay away from drug abuse and adopt a healthy, disciplined and active lifestyle.

On reaching the DC Office in Baramulla, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Pranjal J. Hazarika welcomed the athlete and congratulated him on his outstanding achievement. He praised Ibadat’s determination and appreciated his efforts to raise awareness about building a drug-free society through sports.

The ADDC said such inspiring initiatives encourage young people to embrace fitness, resilience and positive values while strengthening the message of the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan. He also urged the youth to participate actively in sports and contribute towards creating a healthier and drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.

Later, former Municipal Council Baramulla President Tauseef Raina, along with Ibadat’s coach, family members and friends, felicitated the young athlete in recognition of his remarkable achievement. They commended his dedication and commitment to promoting the anti-drug campaign through sports.

The achievement has been widely appreciated as an inspiring example of how sport can be used to promote social awareness and motivate young people to choose a healthier future.
