MMU Condemns Imran Raza

Following its earlier appeal for responsible conduct and unity among Muslims, the Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulama (MMU) — comprising scholars and leaders from all Islamic schools of thought, both Sunni and Shia — wishes to place on record its deep anguish and strong condemnation of the continued and deliberate provocations by Mr Imran Raza Ansari.
In its previous statement, the Majlis had refrained from naming the individual, hoping that he would reflect and correct his malicious intent. However, instead of rectifying, Mr Ansari has now publicly resorted to openly abusing and disrespecting the revered Companions of the Prophet ﷺ. This behaviour is absolutely unacceptable and a direct attack on the foundations of Islamic unity, ethics, and mutual respect and will not be tolerated.
The MMU makes it clear that this is not a matter of difference of opinion, but a deliberate and malicious attempt to incite sectarian strife in Kashmir — an act that threatens the harmony and unity that generations of scholars and spiritual leaders have preserved through mutual respect, restraint and dialogue.
Importantly, the Majlis notes that Shia scholars too are deeply disturbed by these provocations. Respected Shia clerics including Aga Syed Hassan Al Moosvi, Molvi Masroor Abbas Ansari, Aga Syed Mohammad Hadi Al Moosvi Hadi and others have unequivocally distanced themselves from Mr Imran Ansari’s statements and affirmed that such speech has no place in the teachings of Islam or the traditions of the Ahl al-Bayt.
Given the gravity of the situation and the potential for unrest, the MMU strongly urges the authorities to initiate immediate legal action against Imran Raza Ansari for inciting communal disharmony and hurting the religious sentiments of the Muslim community.
Furthermore, all member scholars of the MMU — Sunni and Shia alike — have taken a unanimous decision to boycott Mr Imran Ansari until he publicly apologises and withdraws his statements. No platform, religious gathering, or public event associated with MMU or its constituents will host or endorse him till then. Also, a crucial meeting of MMU members will be called in this regard.
The Majlis also appeals to the public to remain calm and not fall into the trap of provocation. Our strength lies in our unity, and we must not allow those with hidden agendas — acting at the behest of unknown forces — to divide us.
May Allah Almighty guide us all to protect the sanctity of our faith, the honour of the Sahaba and the Ahl al-Bayt, and the unity of the Ummah.

The seventh batch of pilgrims departed for the Amarnath Yatra from the Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam on Wednesday. Devotees expressed satisfaction with the arrangements and prayed for peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.

Visuals from the site showed pilgrims embarking on their spiritual journey towards the holy cave shrine of Lord Amarnath.

Deepa, a pilgrim from Bhopal, hailed the arrangements made for the Yatra and said that she would pray for everyone’s well-being.

“The vibes here are very positive…I will pray for the well-being of everyone. May all stay healthy. The arrangements here are very good,” she told ANI.

Kamal, another devotee from Delhi, echoed similar feelings. “I will pray for the peace and well-being of everyone. The arrangements here are very good,” he said.

Meanwhile, free langar (community kitchen) services continue to support pilgrims en route, especially at the Jammu base camp and several locations along the National Highway.

Virender Kumar Sharma, who has been organising the langar facility for the past 17 years, said, “We have been running this langar for almost 17 years, and it’s a completely free service. People come from far-off places, and whoever comes here, they have devotion towards it and also make donations. There are many langars in the city, but we run this langar for free and don’t expect anything in return.”

First-time pilgrim Siddharth Agrawal praised the efforts of security personnel along the route. “I am here for the first time. Despite recent incidents, the armed forces are working hard for us. We may not have had the courage to come here without their support. We are roaming around freely because they are standing here with guns. I salute the CRPF and the J-K Police,” he said.

The 38-day annual Amarnath pilgrimage to the 3,880-metre-high holy cave shrine in South Kashmir began on July 3, 2025, and will conclude on August 9, 2025, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan.

The pilgrimage is taking place simultaneously via both the Pahalgam route (Anantnag district) and the Baltal route (Ganderbal district).

Amarnath Yatra is an annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave, where devotees pay homage to an ice stalagmite believed to be the lingam of Lord Shiva.

The ice stalagmite forms every year during the summer months and reaches its maximum size in July and August, when thousands of Hindu devotees make an annual pilgrimage to the cave. (ANI)

The Awami Ittehaad Party (AIP) has formally approached the Patiala House Court in New Delhi, seeking permission for its incarcerated president and Member of Parliament, Engineer Rashid, to participate in the upcoming Lok Sabha session scheduled to begin on July 21.

In a statement to Kashmir News Observer (KNO), AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi confirmed that the application was submitted today by Advocate Vikhyat Oberoi, who is representing Engineer Rashid in legal matters. The plea has been listed for hearing on July 15.

“Engineer Rashid is the elected representative of Baramulla. Preventing him from attending Parliament not only silences his voice but also robs his constituents of representation. Attending Parliament is not a favour—it’s his constitutional right and duty,” Inam Un Nabi said.

He added that the party remains hopeful that the judiciary will honour the principles of democracy and allow the MP to fulfill his responsibilities in the House.

Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulama Urges Unity, Respect for Sahaba and Ahl al-Bayt Amid Sectarian Tensions

The Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulama (MMU) Jammu & Kashmir, comprising leading Sunni and Shia religious organisations, has issued a strong appeal for unity and responsible conduct among all Islamic scholars, preachers, speakers, and community leaders, regardless of their school of thought.

In a statement released today, the MMU emphasised that the honour and sanctity of the Prophet Muhammad’s (ﷺ) purified family (Ahl al-Bayt) and his noble Companions (Sahaba) — may Allah be pleased with them all — are sacred elements of Islamic belief. The Majlis stressed that any form of disrespect or careless remarks towards them is completely unacceptable and reveals ill intent.

The MMU expressed deep regret over a recent incident in which a prominent individual made disrespectful comments about the Sahaba, hurting the religious sentiments of many Muslims across the Valley. The organisation has urged the person in question to publicly clarify and take responsibility for the statement, which has caused pain and unnecessary discord.

Reaffirming its longstanding commitment to fostering unity and harmony among different sects of Islam, the MMU called upon all influential religious figures and public speakers to refrain from delivering any speeches or statements that could disturb sectarian peace and brotherhood in the region. “Sectarian division weakens the Muslim community and only benefits those looking to exploit our internal differences,” the statement warned.

The MMU also appealed to media houses and social media platforms to act with restraint and responsibility when reporting or sharing sensitive content that could inflame tensions.

Concluding its message, the Majlis prayed for Allah Almighty to grant the wisdom and compassion needed to preserve the unity of Muslims in Kashmir and across the Ummah.

No More Summer Vacation in Kashmir,Schools in Kashmir to Reopen on July 8 Timings Adjusted for Srinagar and Other Areas

Following the 15-days summer vacation, the Government on Monday decided to reopen the schools in Kashmir on July-08.

Speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Minister of Education Sakina Itoo said, “We have decided to reopen the schools on Tuesday.”

Itoo also said that the schools falling under the Srinagar Municipality Limits shall function from 7:30 Am to 11:30 Am.

She said that the schools outside the Srinagar Municipality Limits shall function from 8am to 12pm.

The minister further informed KNO that the schools shall conduct two online classes to complete the syllabus on time.—(KNO)

Lone recalled the assassination of his father, late Abdul Gani Lone, as an example of how political leaders had long been left vulnerable for ideological reasons. “When my father was martyred in Eidgah, the then government had prior information that he might be attacked. But they decided not to act, thinking: ‘He’s a separatist—let him die.’ And they let him be killed,” he said.

Israel had earlier accepted the US-backed proposal, clearing the way for both sides to begin final negotiations to work out details before a ceasefire is finalized, CNN reported.

As reported by CNN, Bishara Bahbah, a Palestinian-American interlocutor who has been in direct contact with Hamas, welcomed the response in a Facebook post, stating, “We are now much closer to ending this cursed war.”

He added that Hamas had introduced “amendments it deemed necessary.”

“In my view, these amendments will not prevent reaching a ceasefire agreement within the coming week, God willing,” he said.

An Israeli source familiar with the developments said earlier on Friday that a positive response from Hamas was anticipated, and that the changes made to the proposal language were not expected to disrupt the progress toward a deal, CNN reported.

Under the terms of the proposal, of the 50 Israeli hostages still held in Gaza, 10 — including 8 living hostages on the first day — would be released during the ceasefire, along with the bodies of 18 others. In exchange, an unspecified number of Palestinian prisoners and detainees would be freed.

Following the initial release, Israel would withdraw from parts of northern Gaza, and the two sides would begin talks on a permanent ceasefire.

Hamas has been directed to release the hostages without any public displays or ceremonies. Additional hostages would be released on four other dates outlined in the proposal, CNN reported.

The Economic Offences Wing, Srinagar (Crime Branch Kashmir), on Thursday, submitted a charge-sheet against Numan Farooq Wani, who allegedly presented fraudulent medical certificates, including an MCI registration certificate, during his engagement at SKIMS Bemina, Srinagar.

According to a press release issued to Rising Kashmir, the Crime Branch Kashmir stated: “The Economic Offences Wing, Srinagar (Crime Branch Kashmir) has submitted a charge-sheet in Case FIR No. 01/2023 under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, and 201 of the RPC before the Hon’ble Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, against Numan Farooq Wani, son of the late Farooq Ahmad Wani, resident of Abu Bakar Lane, Umarabad, Zainakote, Srinagar, for submitting a fake MCI (Medical Council of India) registration certificate and other medical documents during his engagement at SKIMS Bemina, Srinagar.”

The case’s brief facts reveal that the Economic Offences Wing, Srinagar (Crime Branch Kashmir), received a complaint stating that Numan Farooq Wani, a fake doctor, had been working at SKIMS Medical College and Hospital Bemina Srinagar since December 2016 and was drawing a salary from the government based on fraudulent medical registration certificates.

It is further alleged that his MBBS MD Certificate and registration certificates from both the MCI and the State Medical Council were fake. Upon receiving the complaint, a case (FIR No. 01/2023) was registered at the Economic Offences Wing Srinagar (CBK) police station.

The Justice and Development Front (JDF), a political party backed by Jamaat-e-Islami, has announced a new political People’s Alliance with the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (JKPC) and the People’s Democratic Front (PDF).

The announcement was made during a press conference held in Srinagar by JDF President Shamim Ahmad Thoker.

He said the alliance, named the People’s Alliance for Change, aims to provide a united platform for addressing the political and developmental concerns of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

“We have joined hands with the Sajad Lone-led Peoples Conference and Hakeem Yaseen of the People’s Democratic Front,” Thoker said.

“The JDF has a historical connection with the Peoples Conference through the late Abdul Ghani Lone, and we are building on that legacy.

Thoker said the alliance would work collectively to serve the people of Jammu and Kashmir and remain consistent in its political messaging.

“We will speak the same language in Kashmir and in Delhi, unlike others who say one thing here and another there,” he said.

According to KNS, he said that there is a need for unity among regional political groups. “We cannot succeed alone. To serve the people effectively, we must unite. We will invite other like-minded parties and individuals to join this platform,” he added.

JKPC President Sajad Gani Lone and PDF Chairman Hakeem Yaseen have expressed support for the initiative and agreed to work jointly under the alliance.

The alliance will begin consultations and outreach in the coming weeks to expand its base.(KNS).”
