From Bollywood to Hijab: Sana Khan’s Inspiring Journey of Faith, Simplicity, and Purpose

Sana Khan

Sana Khan, once a prominent figure in the Indian entertainment industry, has become a beacon of inspiration for many through her transformative journey toward a life rooted in simplicity and faith. Known for her roles in Bollywood, Tamil, and Telugu films, as well as her stint on reality shows like Bigg Boss, Sana made headlines in 2020 when she announced her decision to leave the glamour of showbiz to embrace a spiritual path guided by the teachings of Islam. Her story is one of courage, introspection, and a deep commitment to living a life of modesty and purpose, reflecting the Islamic principles of moderation and devotion.

Early Life and Career in the Entertainment Industry

Born on August 21, 1987 or 1988, in Mumbai’s Dharavi, Sana Khan grew up in a multicultural environment. Her father, a Malayali Muslim from Kannur, Kerala, and her mother, Saeeda, from Mumbai, instilled in her a sense of cultural diversity. Sana entered the entertainment industry in 2007, appearing in item numbers and supporting roles in films such as Journey Bombay to Goa and Halla Bol. Her breakthrough came with the Tamil film Silambattam (2008), where she played the lead role of Janu, earning the ITFA Best New Actress Award in 2009. She went on to work in Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam films, including Kalyanram Kathi (2010) and Climax (2013), a film loosely based on The Dirty Picture. Her participation in Bigg Boss 6 in 2012 significantly boosted her popularity, placing her third in the competition.

Despite her success, Sana often felt an inner void. In interviews, she has shared that even at the height of her career, with fame, wealth, and opportunities at her disposal, she lacked peace in her heart. This dissatisfaction led her to question the purpose of her life and seek answers beyond the material world.

A Turning Point: Embracing Islam and Leaving Showbiz

In October 2020, Sana shocked the entertainment world by announcing her departure from the industry. In a heartfelt Instagram post, she explained that her decision was driven by a desire to serve humanity and follow the “orders of her Creator.” She cited Islamic teachings about the impermanence of worldly life and the importance of preparing for the hereafter, referencing the concept of “Judgement Day.” Her decision was influenced by a period of depression following a publicized breakup with choreographer Melvin Louis in early 2020, which prompted deep introspection about her life’s purpose. Sana stated, “When I looked for the answer to the intriguing question in my religion, I found that the purpose of this life is to make after-life better. And the after-life will be good if a person follows her life as per the rules of the Creator.”

Her spiritual awakening was marked by vivid dreams and a renewed connection to Islamic teachings. In a 2022 interview with Muttawiffy Hujjaj South Asia, Sana recounted a recurring dream during Ramadan 2019, where she saw herself in a blazing grave, interpreting it as a divine sign urging her to change her life. This experience, coupled with listening to motivational Islamic speeches, led her to embrace the hijab permanently. She recalled a particularly moving message: “You don’t want your last day to be your first day of wearing a hijab.” The next morning, on her birthday, she donned a scarf and vowed never to remove it, marking a pivotal moment in her transformation.

Marriage to Mufti Anas Sayed: A Partnership in Faith

On November 21, 2020, Sana married Mufti Anas Sayed, an Islamic scholar, in a private Nikaah ceremony in Surat. Their relationship began in 2017 when they met in Mecca, initially addressing each other as siblings, with Anas calling Sana “baji” (sister). Over time, their bond deepened, and Anas proposed in 2018. Despite their seven-year age gap—Sana being older—they built a relationship grounded in mutual respect and shared faith. Sana has praised Anas for his simplicity, noting in a 2024 interview with The Times of India that he owned minimal clothing and lived modestly, which deeply influenced her own approach to life.

Their marriage faced scrutiny, with some predicting it would not last. Sana shared on Rubina Dilaik’s podcast Kisi Ne Bataya Nahi that she struggled with negative comments early in their marriage, but Anas’s unwavering support helped her persevere. The couple welcomed their first son, Saiyad Tariq Jamil, in 2023, and their second son, Saiyad Hasan Jamil, later on, further solidifying their commitment to family and faith.

Simplicity in Islam: Sana’s Guiding Principle

Sana’s embrace of simplicity aligns closely with Islamic teachings, which emphasize moderation and mindfulness. As outlined in Green Islam, Islam advocates a life free from excess, encouraging believers to enjoy life’s pleasures—such as good food and beautiful clothing—while maintaining moral and physical purity. Sana has embodied this principle by adopting a modest lifestyle, wearing hijabs and abayas, and focusing on spiritual growth over material pursuits. She has spoken about how the “devil” (shaitaan) once lured her toward modernism, leading her to choose “shortcuts” like revealing clothing, but she found true happiness in returning to simplicity.

In a 2024 conversation with Rubina Dilaik, Sana reflected on her past, admitting that her choices in the entertainment industry, driven by fame and external pressures, left her feeling unfulfilled. She credited her study of the Quran, particularly an English translation she purchased after Bigg Boss, for providing direction and peace. This shift toward simplicity is evident in her daily life, where she prioritizes prayer, charity, and family over the extravagance of her former career.

Business Ventures and Spreading Islamic Teachings

After leaving showbiz, Sana channeled her energy into meaningful ventures that reflect her values. In 2018, she founded Face Spa by Sana Khan, a luxury skincare brand offering “wudu-friendly” and alcohol-free products. Following her adoption of the hijab, she launched Haya by Sana Khan in February 2022, a modest clothing line featuring abayas, jilbabs, hijabs, and kurtas designed for everyday and festive wear. She described the launch as a “fruit of love, labour, and patience,” crediting Anas for his support. Additionally, Sana and Anas run the Hayat Welfare Foundation, a charitable organization aimed at serving humanity, aligning with her commitment to Islamic principles of compassion and service.

Sana also uses her platform to spread Islamic teachings, sharing motivational content on social media, where she has a following of over 4.6 million on Instagram. Her posts often highlight her spiritual journey, travels to holy sites like Mecca and Medina, and her life as a devoted wife and mother. In 2022, she and Anas performed Hajj, an experience she described as transformative, reinforcing her commitment to her faith.

Addressing Criticism and Inspiring Others

Sana’s transformation has not been without controversy. Some social media discussions, such as posts on Reddit, have criticized her for perceived hypocrisy, pointing to her past in glamorous roles and cosmetic procedures while she now advocates for modesty. Others have accused her of promoting a rigid interpretation of Islam. However, Sana has remained steadfast, emphasizing that her journey is personal and rooted in her faith. She has clarified that Islam does not compel others to follow her path, citing the Quranic principle of “no compulsion in religion.”

Actress Zareen Khan, who worked with Sana in the industry, has defended her, noting that Sana was always deeply religious, even during her Bollywood days. In a 2025 interview with Pinkvilla’s Hindi Rush, Zareen emphasized that Sana’s faith was consistent, and her decision to fully embrace it post-marriage was a natural progression. Zareen urged others to respect Sana’s choices, stating, “Faith is a very intimate relationship between you and God. You don’t have to publicize it.”

A Life of Purpose and Legacy

Sana Khan’s journey from a Bollywood star to a devoted Muslim reflects a profound commitment to simplicity and spirituality. Her decision to leave the entertainment industry, embrace the hijab, and build a life centered on faith and family has inspired many, particularly young women seeking meaning beyond material success. By sharing her story through interviews, social media, and her businesses, Sana continues to advocate for a life of moderation, compassion, and devotion, embodying the Islamic principle of living for the hereafter while cherishing the present.

Her story resonates as a testament to the power of self-reflection and the courage to redefine one’s path. As she navigates motherhood, entrepreneurship, and her spiritual mission, Sana Khan remains a compelling figure, demonstrating that true fulfillment lies in aligning one’s life with purpose and faith.

Shah Rukh Khan Wins First National Award for Jawan, Shares Honour with Vikrant Massey for 12th Fail

Shah Rukh Khan

Finally! Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Friday bagged his first-ever National Award for his intriguing performance in the film ‘Jawan’. This feat is an ode to his illustrious career spanning over three decades.

The actor shares the Best Actor award with Vikrant Massey, who won for his role in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s directorial ’12th Fail’.

The names of the winners of the 71st National Film Awards were revealed at a press briefing at the National Media Centre in New Delhi.

Fans have been beaming with joy ever since Shah Rukh and Vikrant have been adjudged as the recipients of Best Actor for the National Film Awards.

“This is huge! Shah Rukh finally receiving his first National Award win,” an X user wrote.

“So so happy. Both SRK and Vikrant deserve it,” another social media user commented.

In January 2023, Shah Rukh made his comeback to the big screen after a 4-year hiatus with YRF’s ‘Pathaan’. The film created a storm at the box office, drawing in a huge audience. After the blockbuster success of ‘Pathaan’, SRK treated fans to another blockbuster ‘Jawan’, which helped him earn his first National Award.

Directed by Atlee, ‘Jawan’ starred SRK alongside Nayanthara, Deepika Padukone, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, and Ridhi Dogra.

Previously, post the success of Jawan, the makers held a press conference in Mumbai, where SRK expressed his gratitude to the makers for their love for the film.

“It’s a celebration. We rarely get a chance to live with a film for years. The making of Jawan has been going on for four years due to Covid and time constraints. There were a lot of people involved in this film, especially people from the South who came and settled in Mumbai and have been living in Mumbai for the last four years and working day and night for this film, which is the hardest work ever,” SRK shared.

‘Jawan’ was one of the highest-grossing films of 2023. ’12 Fail’ was also released a month later Jawan’s theatrical release. With his versatile acting skills, Vikrant left everyone speechless.

Based on a book by Anurag Pathak, ’12th Fail’ chronicles the life of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who overcame extreme poverty to become an IPS officer. The film puts the spotlight on his journey and how his wife, IRS officer Shraddha Joshi, was instrumental in his rise.

The film emerged as a word-of-mouth hit towards the end of 2023, grossing nearly Rs 60 crore worldwide at a time when mid-budget films were not even getting theatrical releases.

With ’12th Fail’, Vikrant undoubtedly skyrocketed to fame. (ANI)

Dr. Shaheena Akhtar Becomes First Female PhD in Persian from Nowgam Sonawari, Inspiring Young Women Across Kashmir

Dr Shaheena

In a remarkable achievement that has filled the hearts of Kashmiris with pride, Dr. Shaheena Akhtar has become the first female PhD scholar in Persian from the Nowgam Sonawari area of North Kashmir. Her historic accomplishment is being hailed as a beacon of hope and inspiration for countless young women aspiring to pursue higher education, especially in classical languages and literature.

Dr. Shaheena’s academic journey has not only broken barriers in a traditionally male-dominated field but also highlighted the importance of reviving interest in Persian — a language deeply rooted in Kashmir’s literary and cultural history.

A Trailblazer in Her Field

Hailing from a modest background in Nowgam Sonawari, Dr. Shaheena displayed a deep passion for learning from an early age. Despite the challenges faced by women in rural areas, she pursued her education with unwavering determination. Her choice of Persian, a subject often overlooked in modern academia, reflects her love for literature, culture, and heritage.

After years of rigorous study and research, Dr. Shaheena completed her doctorate, making history not only in her village but also in the broader academic landscape of the valley.

A Moment of Pride

Her success has been widely celebrated by the local community, educators, and women’s rights advocates. Locals gathered at her residence to congratulate her and express their admiration for her dedication and perseverance.

“She is a source of pride not just for Nowgam, but for all of Kashmir. Her achievement proves that with dedication and the right support, our daughters can shine in every field,” said a senior teacher from the area.

Reviving a Rich Legacy

Persian has historically held a special place in Kashmir’s literary and intellectual traditions. Many classical works of Kashmiri poets and historians were composed in Persian, and the language once served as the official language of the region during several dynasties.

Dr. Shaheena’s work contributes to preserving and promoting this rich heritage, ensuring that future generations remain connected to their roots. Her doctoral research, focused on classical Persian literature and its influence on Kashmiri Sufi poetry, has been praised by academics for its depth and relevance.

A Role Model for Young Women

In an era where access to higher education remains a challenge for many girls in rural Kashmir, Dr. Shaheena’s journey stands as a powerful reminder of what is possible. Her success sends a strong message about gender equality, the importance of education, and the transformative power of perseverance.

She hopes her achievement will encourage other young women in the valley to pursue their academic dreams fearlessly.

“I dedicate this success to all the girls of Kashmir who dream big. Never stop believing in yourself,” Dr. Shaheena said in a heartfelt message.

Looking Ahead

With her doctorate now complete, Dr. Shaheena Akhtar plans to continue her academic journey through teaching and research. She aims to work closely with educational institutions and cultural organisations to promote Persian studies and mentor young students, especially girls, interested in classical languages.

Her life and work will undoubtedly serve as a source of encouragement for generations to come — a shining example of what determination, intellect, and courage can achieve in the face of odds.

Saiyaara Soars: Faheem Abdullah’s Chartbuster Powers Ahaan Panday–Aneet Padda Film to ₹247 Crore in 10 Days

Saiyaara

Bollywood’s newest romantic saga Saiyaara is proving to be the surprise blockbuster of 2025. Directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Yash Raj Films, the film marks the debut of Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda in lead roles. Released on July 18, 2025, Saiyaara has raked in ₹247.25 crore net at the Indian box office within just ten days — a staggering achievement for a non-franchise film led by newcomers.

But beyond just the performances and the storytelling, a major catalyst for the film’s success has been its music, especially the emotionally stirring title track composed and sung by Faheem Abdullah, in collaboration with Arslan Nizami and Tanishk Bagchi.

Box Office Performance: A Meteoric Rise

According to data from Sacnilk and other trade analysts:

  • Saiyaara opened strong with ₹21.5 crore on Day 1, followed by an upward trend during the weekend.
  • It crossed the ₹100 crore mark in just 4 days, a rare feat even for films starring top-tier actors.
  • By Day 10 (July 28), the film collected ₹247.25 crore net in India, and over ₹404 crore worldwide (gross).
  • Globally, it earned ₹315.26 crore gross domestically and ₹76.63 crore from overseas markets, performing exceptionally in the UK and Gulf regions.

Here’s a quick day-wise breakdown (India net):

  • Week 1 Total: ₹172.75 crore
  • Week 2 (up to Day 10): ₹74.5 crore
(Day 10 alone fetched around ₹30 crore)

With continued strong footfalls and little competition, the film is expected to enter the ₹300 crore club soon, positioning it as the second highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025, behind only Chhaava (₹601 crore).

The Power of Music: Faheem Abdullah’s Breakout Moment

While Saiyaara offers a compelling love story, the emotional resonance of its music is what truly captured the audience’s hearts.

The title track, composed by Faheem Abdullah, alongside Arslan Nizami and Tanishk Bagchi, has become a global phenomenon. Sung soulfully by Faheem himself, the song has:

  • Peaked at No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Viral 50
  • Climbed to Top 5 in Spotify’s Global Top 50, with over 4.9 million daily streams
  • Crossed 100 million YouTube views within two weeks
  • Trended on Instagram Reels and TikTok across India, UAE, and the UK

Faheem Abdullah, relatively new to Bollywood, has now become a household name, with the Saiyaara title track considered one of the biggest romantic anthems of the decade.

The film’s full soundtrack, featuring music by Mithoon, Vishal Mishra, Sachet-Parampara, and others, also gained critical acclaim, but the title track remains the soul of the film.

The Story: Healing Through Love

Set in the world of music, Saiyaara tells the story of Krish Kapoor (Ahaan Panday), a struggling musician, and Vaani Batra (Aneet Padda), a reclusive poet recovering from heartbreak. Their bond deepens through shared pain and creative expression, as they both find healing in each other.

Mohit Suri’s signature blend of romantic intensity, heartbreak, and redemption makes a powerful comeback here, resonating particularly with younger audiences.

Critical and Audience Reception

The film has been praised across the board:

  • Taran Adarsh (Bollywood Hungama): ★★★★½ – “A stirring musical saga with chart-topping music and stellar lead performances.”
  • Pinkvilla: ★★★½ – “Beautifully crafted, with emotionally rich storytelling and enchanting visuals.”
  • Rotten Tomatoes: 79% positive reviews

Audiences praised the chemistry between the lead actors, the cinematography by Vikas Sivaraman, and the raw, emotional depth of the screenplay.

While some critics noted minor pacing issues in the second half, the overall reception has been overwhelmingly positive, especially for a film led by newcomers.

Breakout Stars: Ahaan and Aneet

Both Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda have become overnight stars.

  • Ahaan, with his blend of vulnerability and charm, has earned praise for a performance that balances youthful energy with emotional maturity.
  • Aneet, playing the soft-spoken but emotionally complex Vaani, has impressed audiences and critics alike.

Their chemistry has drawn comparisons to some of Bollywood’s iconic romantic pairings.

Cultural Impact and Global Appeal

  • The film’s success has outperformed big-budget, star-studded projects, proving that content-driven cinema can still lead the box office.
  • Saiyaara is now a youth favourite, thanks to its digital buzz and Gen Z relatability.
  • Internationally, the film’s UK performance crossed £1 million, making it the top-grossing Hindi film in the UK for 2024–2025.
  • The soundtrack’s success has put Indian music once again on the global streaming map, especially in the non-diaspora audience segment.

Challenges and Future Prospects

While Saiyaara saw minor weekday drops in its second week, the lack of strong competing releases has kept its momentum strong.

Upcoming releases like Dhadak 2 and War 2 may pose competition, but with strong word-of-mouth and musical dominance, Saiyaara is expected to hold its own.

The film is also a favourite for year-end awards, particularly for:

  • Best Debut (Ahaan Panday, Aneet Padda)
  • Best Music Director (Faheem Abdullah, Arslan Nizami, Tanishk Bagchi)
  • Best Playback Singer (Faheem Abdullah)

Saiyaara

Conclusion: A New Bollywood Benchmark

Saiyaara is more than just a hit—it’s a movement. Backed by soul-stirring music, fresh performances, and heartfelt storytelling, the film has proven that a well-crafted romantic drama can still reign at the box office — even without superstars.

With ₹247.25 crore in 10 days, a record-breaking soundtrack, and two bright new stars, Saiyaara is poised to be one of the most memorable Bollywood films of the decade.

Shocking “Snowfall” in Saudi Arabia? Viral Abha Videos Exposed — Here’s What Really Fell from the Sky!

“Snowfall” in Saudi Arabia

Videos recently circulated on social media showing what appeared to be heavy snowfall over the highlands of Abha, located in the southwest region of Saudi Arabia, quickly captured the public’s attention. The rare and visually striking scenes led many to believe that actual snow had fallen in the city — a phenomenon almost unheard of in this part of the Arabian Peninsula, especially during the summer months.

However, a detailed review by Arab Weather, a trusted regional weather authority, has clarified that the phenomenon witnessed in Abha was not snowfall, but rather a hailstorm — a weather event that, while visually similar to snow, is entirely different in its formation and characteristics.

Snow vs. Hail: What’s the Difference?

To understand the truth behind the footage, it’s important to differentiate between snow and hail, both of which involve frozen water but form under entirely different atmospheric conditions.

  • Hail forms when water droplets are lifted by strong thunderstorm updrafts into the extremely cold upper layers of the atmosphere. These droplets freeze around small particles like dust or other ice pellets, forming hard balls or irregular lumps of ice. As they move within the storm clouds, they continue to grow in size before eventually falling to the ground as solid ice chunks. Hail is typically associated with powerful thunderstorms, which are common in mountainous regions during certain seasonal conditions.
  • Snow, on the other hand, forms when water vapour in the atmosphere freezes directly into ice crystals, creating delicate, hexagonal structures. For snow to form and reach the ground without melting, temperatures must remain below freezing (0°C or 32°F) from the upper atmosphere all the way to the Earth’s surface. Such conditions are characteristic of cold winter climates, and are generally absent in Saudi Arabia’s southern highlands, particularly in summer.

Why Did It Happen in Abha?

The meteorological explanation provided by experts points to the seasonal monsoon winds that affect parts of southern Saudi Arabia during the summer. These humid winds from the Arabian Sea collide with the elevated terrain of the Asir Mountains, including the Abha region, often leading to dense cloud formation and violent afternoon thunderstorms.

These conditions can produce frequent hailstorms in the region — a relatively common occurrence despite being visually deceptive. When large amounts of hail cover the ground, it can resemble snow, especially in videos or photographs.

Public Reaction and Misinformation

The viral nature of the videos, shared widely across platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and TikTok, led to confusion and excitement. Many users celebrated what they thought was a historic snowfall in Abha, while others questioned the authenticity of the visuals. Some even speculated about climate change, attributing the supposed snowfall to shifting global weather patterns.

But meteorologists have emphasized that such hailstorms are not unusual in the mountainous regions of southern Saudi Arabia during this time of year and do not indicate any abnormal climate trend.

Conclusion

The scenes from Abha, while stunning, do not depict actual snowfall. Rather, they highlight the region’s unique summer weather dynamics, particularly the interaction between monsoon winds and high terrain. While snow remains a rare and unlikely occurrence in Saudi Arabia outside a few extreme winter events in the north, hailstorms like the one witnessed in Abha are well within the expected weather patterns for the season.

As always, weather experts encourage the public to seek information from verified sources and avoid jumping to conclusions based solely on visual content circulating online.

Outrage in Jammu as Gujjar Youth Killed in Alleged Police Encounter

Gujjar Youth

A young man from the Gujjar community was killed in an alleged police encounter in Flying Mandal, Jammu, on July 24, 2025, prompting widespread protests and accusations of extrajudicial killing. The police claim the deceased was involved in drug-related activities, but his family and community vehemently deny these allegations, asserting that he had no criminal record and labeling the incident as a deliberate murder.
According to police reports, the encounter occurred during a late-night operation targeting suspected drug peddlers in the area. Authorities state that the man, whose identity has not been officially disclosed, was killed in crossfire after police pursued suspects in Flying Mandal. A senior police official claimed, “The individual was linked to drug peddling, and the operation was based on credible intelligence. When confronted, he resisted, leading to an exchange of fire.”
However, the family of the deceased, supported by local residents and community leaders, disputes this narrative. They allege that the man, a resident of the area, was an innocent civilian with no history of criminal activity. “He was never involved in drug peddling. There isn’t a single FIR against him,” a family member told local media, visibly distraught. They claim he was deliberately targeted and killed without provocation, describing the encounter as a “cold-blooded murder.”
On July 24, 2025, family members and supporters gathered outside the Government Medical College (GMC) in Jammu, staging a protest to demand justice. Demonstrators blocked roads, chanting slogans against the police and calling for an independent judicial inquiry. “This is a systemic assault on marginalized communities like ours,” said a protester, echoing sentiments shared on social media platforms. Posts on X from July 24-25, 2025, reflect growing outrage, with users condemning the incident as a “fake encounter” and urging authorities, including the Lieutenant Governor’s office and local leaders, to investigate.
Community leaders have also raised concerns about the broader implications of such incidents. “The Gujjar community is often unfairly targeted. This is not just a killing; it’s an attack on our dignity,” said a prominent member of the community, who requested anonymity for safety reasons. They argue that even if drug-related allegations were true, the individual deserved due process, not summary execution.
The incident has drawn attention from political figures, with some calling for accountability. “If someone is suspected of a crime, they should face trial, not a bullet,” tweeted a local leader on July 24, 2025, amplifying calls for transparency. The Jammu and Kashmir Police have not yet released a detailed statement, but sources indicate an internal review may be underway.

Congress Demands PM Modi’s Response on Pahalgam Attack, Trump’s Ceasefire Claim, and Electoral Roll Controversy in Parliament

Parliamentary Panel

The Congress party has demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi respond to debates in the Monsoon Session of the Parliament on various issues, including the Pahalgam terror attack, US President Donald Trump’s ceasefire claims, and the actions of the Election Commission, especially the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar.

Congress General Secretary in-charge of Communications, Jairam Ramesh, said in a post on X on Sunday that his colleague, Gaurav Gogoi, the Deputy Leader of the INC in the Lok Sabha, had placed these demands before the government during the all-party meeting convened ahead of the Monsoon Session.

“In the all-Party meeting convened by the Modi Govt today, my colleague Gaurav Gogoi, the Deputy Leader of the INC in the Lok Sabha, made the demands for discussion in Parliament on behalf of the INC,” the senior Congress leader wrote.

He listed the Congress party’s key demands, including —

1. Pahalgam, Sindoor, statements of LG Jammu and Kashmir, CDS, Deputy COAS, and President Trump.

2. SIR votebandi exercise that will lead to mass disenfranchisement in Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, and other states, alongside other actions of ECI that threaten electoral democracy.

3. Foreign policy challenges with respect to China, especially the failure of neighbourhood diplomacy, the moral cowardice on Palestine, etc.

4. Restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, Schedule VI status for Ladakh, and the situation in Manipur (a state that is still awaiting the PM’s visit).

Speaking on behalf of the Indian National Congress (INC), Gogoi urged for these issues to be taken up in both Houses of the Parliament.

He expressed hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address critical issues in Parliament, particularly regarding defence, foreign policy and electoral structure.

Gogoi emphasised the importance of PM Modi’s presence in Parliament to provide clarity on the Pahalgam terror attack, responding to US President Donald Trump’s claims about mediating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan and the Election Commission’s functioning, particularly in relation to the special intensive revision of electoral rolls in Bihar and its potential extension to other states.

“There are some crucial issues that will be raised in the monsoon session, and this is why we have more hope than before that Prime Minister Modi will address the country through the House. Those important issues are Pahalgam and the security lapse, as well as the things the Lieutenant Governor said about it. A lot of time has passed, and the government will have to put forth its point on it,” Gogoi told reporters.

Gogoi added that the government must explain the alleged security lapse in the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam and respond to Trump’s controversial remarks.

“The statements coming from the US President today, in some way, raise questions on the dignity of India, the bravery of the Indian Army. The answers to the US President can be given only by the Prime Minister,” he added.

Gogoi said that concerns regarding the Election Commission and its workings have been consistently raised since the constitutional body has not provided any clarifications. He added that the Prime Minister has the responsibility to put forth the government’s position on issues related to elections.

“Important questions are being raised today regarding the right to vote. The way the Election Commission is shying away from talking to various political parties and is not giving clarifications. Important questions are being raised about the upcoming elections in states, about the entire electoral structure, and the constitutional democratic structure. Being the head of the government, it is the duty of the Prime Minister to put forth the position of his government or the government’s side inside the House,” the Congress leader said.

Gogoi stressed the need for the Prime Minister to clarify the government’s stance on defence and foreign policy, especially regarding the two-front axis formed on India’s borders with China, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

“The third thing is that our senior army officers have raised a very sensitive issue about the two-front axis that has been formed on our border with China, Pakistan and Bangladesh. So it is very important that we talk about defence and foreign policy. It will be very important for Prime Minister Modi to come to this House and put forth his views on these three subjects,” the Congress MP said.

He criticized the government’s handling of the Manipur crisis, pointing out that despite the Prime Minister’s promise of peace, the state still faces unrest and violence almost two and a half years later.

“Today, this government is also bringing various bills regarding Manipur and the Prime Minister had said that peace will come to Manipur in a few months. Almost two and a half years have passed, and we are not able to see an atmosphere of peace. The Prime Minister goes to small countries. But in a small state of our own country, where fire is still there, he is avoiding it for some reason. We hope for a positive discussion in the coming session,” he added.

The all-party meeting, attended by representatives from 51 political parties, concluded a day before the Monsoon Session of Parliament, which begins Monday.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju appealed for cooperation to ensure the smooth functioning of Parliament.

The Congress and other parties in the opposition INDIA bloc plan to jointly raise these issues, pressing for accountability and a direct response from the Prime Minister.

After briefly attending the all-party meeting, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh said, “On behalf of my party, I raised the issue that the US President is repeatedly claiming he brokered the ceasefire (between Indian and Pakistan) in the name of the trade deal. The government must clarify.”

Singh also criticised the controversial Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar. “The SIR exercise should be stopped in Bihar… If the government does not respond, we will raise questions both inside and outside the House…,” he said.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party (SP) has also decided to raise several key issues, including Pahalgam terror attack, Milkipur Assembly by-poll results and others in the Parliament.

“This session is being convened at a time when the country has seen major incidents, heart-rending incidents. After the painful incident in Pahalgam (terrorist attack), the entire country displayed unity…The current government was extended full support. Our leader Akhilesh Yadav had told the Centre that whatever steps are taken, our party would stand with them. All political parties in the country supported the Government. Unfortunately, we need to ask today what constructive steps were taken by the Government in Pahalgam. People of the country are still waiting for a discussion on the steps taken by the Government in Pahalgam. This discussion will be taken up in Parliament,” SP MP Awadhesh Prasad said on Sunday.

AIADMK MP M Thambidurai said that the party will raise the plight of Tamil Nadu fishermen, among other pressing issues. “Tamil Nadu fishermen are suffering a lot. The Sri Lankan army kills many Tamil fishermen, so it is important to pay attention to this. Similarly, whatever promises the Sri Lankan government has made, they must be fulfilled in time,” he said.

He further stated that other issues, including that of the drug menace, custodial deaths and implementation of the Women’s Reservation Bill, will also be discussed. He added the party would also raise concerns over the drug menace, custodial deaths, and the implementation of the Women’s Reservation Bill.

The Monsoon Session will run till August 21. The government is expected to table a packed legislative agenda, with multiple bills listed for discussion and passage.

Some of the key bills include — Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill of 2025, Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill of 2025, Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill 2025, the Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) bill 2025, the Geoheritage Sites and Geo-relics (Preservation and Maintenance) bill 2025, the Mines and Mines (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill 2025, the National Sports Governance Bill 2025 and the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill 2025.

Also on the agenda are the Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of the State of Goa Bill, 2024, the Merchant Shipping Bill, 2024, the Indian Ports Bill, 2025, and the Income Tax Bill, 2025.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will brief the media before the start of the Monsoon Session on Monday, according to an official statement. (ANI)

Apni Party’s Budgam convention urges PM Modi for talks, criticises NC and PAGD for misleading people on Article 370.

Apni Party’s Budgam convention

Continuing its district-wise outreach to connect with grassroots workers and the masses, Apni Party on Thursday held a workers’ convention in central Kashmir’s Budgam. The event attracted a large number of party leaders and workers from across the district.

Addressing the occasion, party’s Senior Vice President, Ghulam Hassan Mir, appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to “initiate a dialogue with the people of Jammu and Kashmir in order to understand their grievances and address the issues and problems they are facing.”

He added, “People here are ready and willing to move forward on the path of peace and harmony, and they need to be responded to positively. The trust deficit between Jammu and Kashmir and the Centre needs to be addressed, and the Prime Minister himself must take the initiative in this regard.”

Taking a dig at the NC, Mir accused it for deceiving people through fake promises during the elections. He said, “They (the ruling party) boasted that after winning the elections, they would get Article 370 and statehood restored. This promise was a blatant lie, simply because even after winning the elections, it is not within the party’s authority to restore these things. That is why I am saying they deceived people with fake promises.”

He further said, “The alliance called PAGD was also a deception. At the time, the parties affiliated with it claimed that PAGD would fight for the restoration of Articles 370 and 35A. What happened to this alliance? It was created solely to mislead people and secure their votes.”

He expressed his concern that “poor and marginalised people, who used to receive monthly assistance from the Social Welfare Department, are now running from pillar to post for the same — despite the fact that we now have an elected government in place.”

Party’s Vice President Javaid Mustafa Mir expressed his grave concern over the lack of accountability in system under the present government. He said, “When people complain about something or make demands, they are told that the elected government does not have the necessary powers. On the other hand, the Lieutenant Governor has clarified that he holds only those powers he is entitled to under the law, and the rest lie with the elected government. As a result, people are confused.”

Party’s General Secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir, urged workers to get organised and active in order to make the party strenghtn further. He said, “In these challenging times, we must shoulder our responsibilities and stand with the people. They are grappling with a range of issues and are deeply concerned about the future of their children, given the growing unemployment in the region.”

Speaking on the occasion, the party’s Provincial President, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, blamed the government for failing to provide good governance to the people.

The party’s Chief Spokesperson and state secretary, Muntazir Mohiuddin, while addressing the gathering, urged people not to fall prey once again to the fake promises and emotional sloganeering of traditional political parties when they come seeking votes in the upcoming elections. President of the Youth Wing, Yawar Mir, while addressing the gathering, urged the people of Budgam to encourage their youth to come forward and become their representatives.

SSP Ganderbal  Khalil Ahmad Poswal Refutes Death Rumours After Minor Landslide on Amarnath Yatra Route

Khalil Ahmad Poswal

Amid widespread speculation and circulating reports, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Khalil Ahmad Poswal, has dismissed claims of any pilgrim losing their life in the minor landslide that occurred at Rail Pathri along the Amarnath Yatra route.

“No pilgrim died due to the landslide,” SSP Poswal said. “The landslide at Rail Pathri was minor, but a video filmed from close range made it look more serious than it actually was.”

Following continuous rainfall over the past two days, the Amarnath Yatra was temporarily suspended from both Baltal and Pahalgam routes as a safety measure. The Border Roads Organization (BRO) swiftly deployed men and machinery to clear the route and restore movement for the yatris.

Clarifying confusion about a death reported earlier, SSP Poswal confirmed that a woman pilgrim did pass away, but her death was unrelated to the landslide.

“She was hit by a stone while on her way to the holy cave. It was an unfortunate and separate incident,” he said.(KNS)
