“The concerns raised by MBBS & BDS interns across J&K deserve serious and urgent consideration. A stipend of ₹12,300 is clearly inadequate for young doctors working long hours and carrying significant clinical responsibilities,” he wrote.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq also pointed out that a government-constituted committee had already recommended an increase in the stipend, making the continued delay difficult to understand.
“With a government-constituted committee having already recommended an enhancement, the prolonged delay is difficult to justify,” he said.
He urged the administration to engage directly with the interns and resolve their demand in a fair and timely manner.
“The administration should engage with the interns, address their genuine demand fairly and expeditiously, and ensure that patient care is not disrupted,” the post read.
The remarks come amid growing concerns among MBBS and BDS interns in Jammu and Kashmir over the long-pending demand for a revision of their stipend.
