J&K Daily Wagers Protest in Srinagar, Demand Regularisation and Action on Committee Report

The protesting daily wagers urged the government to act on its long-pending promise to regularise their employment and ensure that the committee constituted for the purpose submits its report.
Addressing the protesters, JKCDF president Sajad Ahmed Parray said the government should move the regularisation process forward and resolve the concerns of daily wagers.
“The government promised regularisation and we want it to fulfil that promise,” Parray said.
He said the protesters had been waiting for a decision on the issue for a long time and would continue their peaceful campaign until their demand was addressed.
Daily wagers to release film on their struggles
Parray also announced that a 16-minute film highlighting the struggles and hardships faced by daily wagers would be released at Tagore Hall in Srinagar on Tuesday afternoon.
He said the film would highlight the difficulties faced by workers who have been seeking job security and regularisation for years.
More protests planned in Srinagar
The JKCDF president said the forum would continue its peaceful protests if the government failed to take concrete steps towards resolving the issue.
He announced that another protest would be held at SK Park in Srinagar on September 10.
“We will continue our peaceful struggle until the government addresses the long-pending demand of daily wagers,” Parray said.
The protesters have called for the government to expedite the regularisation process and ensure that the committee’s report is submitted as promised.
The daily wagers said they would continue pressing their demand through peaceful demonstrations until a concrete decision is taken by the authorities.
