GMC Anantnag Restricts Entry of Medical Representatives in OPDs, Wards and Casualty Areas

Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag has restricted the entry and movement of medical representatives (MRs) in OPDs, wards and casualty areas of the college and its associated hospitals during duty hours.

The order was issued by Muqbil Lateef Hussain, Administrative Officer, GMC Anantnag, after authorities observed medical representatives freely moving inside patient-care areas.

MRs Barred From Approaching Doctors and Patients

According to the order, some medical representatives were found moving around OPDs, wards and casualty areas and, in certain cases, checking patients’ prescriptions.

The college said such activities could affect patient care, hospital discipline and the smooth functioning of clinical services.

Under the new instructions, medical representatives are not allowed to enter or approach doctors or patients in OPDs, wards or casualty areas for promotional or professional purposes during duty hours.

Meetings Allowed After Duty Hours

The order allows medical representatives to meet concerned doctors after duty hours, provided their meetings do not disturb patient care or the normal functioning of the hospital.

The college has directed Heads of Departments, faculty members, consultants, resident doctors, outsourced security personnel and other concerned officials to ensure strict implementation of the order.

Violations May Lead to Action

GMC Anantnag said any violation of the instructions would be viewed seriously and could result in disciplinary action under the relevant rules.

The move is aimed at maintaining discipline in clinical areas and ensuring that doctors and other healthcare staff can focus on patient care without unnecessary interruptions during duty hours.
