Amit Shah Says Government Ready to Discuss Students’ Protests in Parliament, Urges Opposition to Let House Function

Speaking to reporters in the Parliament House complex, Shah said the government was prepared to hold a detailed discussion on the issue and that he would respond to the debate.

Shah Asks Opposition to Submit Notice

Shah urged the Opposition to submit a written notice to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla by 2 pm on Wednesday to initiate a discussion.

“We are ready to discuss all the issues in Parliament, including students’ protests; let the House function,” Shah said.

He said that if the Opposition submitted the notice by the stipulated deadline, the discussion could begin at 3 pm on Wednesday and continue until 3 pm on Thursday.

Home Minister Promises Reply

Shah also said he would respond to the debate after the discussion.

“If the discussion starts at 3 pm today, I will give a reply tomorrow at 3 pm,” he said.

The Home Minister’s remarks came amid disruptions in Parliament over various issues, with the government calling for the functioning of the House and the Opposition pressing for discussions on matters it considers important.
