Farooq Abdullah Condemns Kulgam Killings, Seeks Fair Probe Into Death of Two Migrant Workers

SRINAGAR: National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah on Saturday strongly condemned the killing of two migrant workers in Kulgam district, describing the incident as deeply unfortunate and calling for a fair and impartial investigation to identify those responsible.

Speaking to reporters, Abdullah said the circumstances surrounding the attack must be thoroughly examined.

Calls for Honest Investigation

The veteran NC leader said it was important to determine who carried out the attack and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

“It is deeply unfortunate. We do not know who killed them, and we do not know who the perpetrators are. There should be a thorough and honest investigation to identify those responsible,” Abdullah said.

Raises Questions Over Timing

Farooq Abdullah also questioned the timing of the incident, saying such attacks appear to coincide with renewed demands for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood.

“I do not know why such incidents happen whenever we are demanding statehood,” he said.

Abdullah did not provide evidence to support this observation, and no official link has been established between the attack and the political demand for statehood.

Two Migrant Workers Killed

The attack in Kulgam claimed the lives of two migrant workers after militants opened fire at a brick kiln on Friday evening.

The incident has drawn condemnation from political leaders across Jammu and Kashmir, while security forces have launched an investigation and intensified efforts to trace those responsible.

Authorities have appealed for calm as the probe into the attack continues.
