Welcoming the new entrants, NC leader and Banihal-Gool MLA Sajjad Shaheen said the growing support for the National Conference reflected increasing public confidence in the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the party’s vision of development, dignity and inclusive governance.

Shaheen Highlights Development Under Omar Abdullah

Shaheen said Jammu and Kashmir had witnessed a renewed focus on development, public infrastructure, essential services and equitable growth under Omar Abdullah’s leadership.

He said people were increasingly looking towards politics focused on delivering tangible results rather than making promises.

Referring to the Banihal-Gool constituency, Shaheen said several long-pending developmental issues were being addressed, particularly in remote and hilly areas.

He said the Gool-Sangaldan belt had received attention in areas including roads, power, healthcare, education, drinking water and other basic infrastructure.

Power Infrastructure Being Upgraded

Shaheen highlighted the expansion of power infrastructure as one of the important ongoing projects in the area.

He said the Sangaldan Receiving Station had been upgraded from 3.15 MVA to 6.3 MVA.

The augmentation of the Khari Receiving Station from 3.15 MVA to 6.3 MVA is also in progress, he said.

According to Shaheen, these measures would strengthen electricity supply and improve reliability for people living in Gool-Sangaldan and adjoining areas.

Focus on Roads, Healthcare and Education

Shaheen said efforts were also underway to improve road connectivity, particularly in remote and difficult terrain.

He added that healthcare and educational facilities were also being strengthened as part of efforts to address long-standing developmental gaps.

The government, he said, was committed to improving infrastructure in areas that had remained neglected for decades.

He further said initiatives were being pursued to promote the tourism potential of the Banihal-Gool constituency, improve public amenities and create livelihood opportunities, particularly for people living in remote and economically disadvantaged areas.

‘People Looking for Development, Stability and Dignity’

“The people are looking for development, stability and dignity. They have seen the politics of promises and opportunism. Today, they are increasingly choosing the National Conference because they see a leadership and a government focused on development and delivery on the ground,” Shaheen said.

Taking a dig at the PDP, Shaheen claimed that the party had lost public credibility because of its past political decisions and what he described as its failure to safeguard the interests, aspirations and dignity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said the continued movement of workers towards the National Conference reflected a changing political landscape in the Banihal-Gool constituency.

NC Says New Entrants Will Strengthen Grassroots Organisation

Shaheen said the growing strength of the NC was not merely an organisational development but also reflected increasing public confidence in the party’s leadership, policies and grassroots approach.

Welcoming the new members, he assured them that their joining would further strengthen the party organisation at the grassroots level.

He said their participation would contribute to advancing the National Conference’s agenda of development, public service and inclusive politics across the constituency.

Senior NC Leaders Attend Joining Programme

Former DDC Chairperson Shamshada Shan was present at the programme along with Block Presidents Jan Mohammad Chandail, Mohd Saultan Mughal, Mohd Afzal Giri, Mukhtiar Ahmed Bhat and Manzoor Ahmed Sheikh.

Other senior party functionaries and workers also attended the joining programme.
