A motorcyclist was killed and another was injured after their motorcycle collided with a Tata Matador Video Coach in Botingoo area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday.
Officials identified the deceased as Mohinoor Mir Ali, a resident of West Bengal who was reportedly working as a goldsmith in Srinagar. The injured motorcyclist was identified as Minhaj Mir Ali.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
According to officials, the motorcycle, bearing registration number JK01BC-6080, collided with a Tata Video Coach bearing registration number JK05N-9576. The coach was reportedly travelling towards Sopore from Bandipora when the accident occurred.
Following the collision, a team from Police Station Warpora reached the spot and shifted both motorcyclists to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Sopore for medical treatment.
However, doctors at the hospital declared Mohinoor Mir Ali dead on arrival. The injured rider, Minhaj Mir Ali, was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and started an investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the fatal road accident.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns over road safety in the area, as police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
