According to local residents, the land had been shifting slowly over the past few days. However, the situation has now become critical as the ground continues to move, causing large cracks to appear in many houses and leading to the collapse of several buildings.

The landslide has already destroyed a school building and multiple homes in the village. Residents fear that more houses could collapse if the land continues to slide in the coming days.

Many families are living in fear as fresh cracks continue to develop in their homes, raising concerns about the safety of the entire village.

Local people said the continuous movement of the ground has made the situation increasingly dangerous. They believe the whole settlement is vulnerable and are worried that further damage could occur at any time.

Residents Seek Immediate Evacuation

The affected families have appealed to the Jammu and Kashmir Government and the local administration to carry out an immediate assessment of the affected area and relocate residents to safer places to prevent any loss of life.

They have also requested all political leaders and public representatives from the Mendhar area to visit the village and provide every possible assistance to those affected by the disaster.

Villagers have demanded that the administration send a team of geological and disaster management experts to inspect the site without delay. They have urged officials to conduct a detailed survey of the landslide-affected area and make immediate arrangements to safely relocate all families living in the vulnerable zone.
