Kashmir Power Shutdown Alert: These Areas Will Face Outages From September 17

The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced scheduled power shutdowns across several areas of the Kashmir division over the coming days due to maintenance and related works on various transmission and distribution lines.

According to a communication issued by the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, electricity supply will remain affected in several areas on different dates between September 17 and October 1, 2026.

Power Shutdown on September 17

Power supply to several areas of Bandipora district will be affected on Thursday, September 17.

KPDCL said a shutdown of the 33 KV Army feeder will be observed from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

During the shutdown period, electricity supply will remain affected in Hajin, Preng, Madwan, Banyari, Hakbara, Chandergeer and adjoining areas.

The shutdown has been scheduled as part of work on the concerned power infrastructure.

Shutdown in Sangam and Adjoining Areas

Power consumers in several areas around Sangam and Takenwari will face an outage on September 19 and September 23.

KPDCL said the shutdown of the 33 KV Wanganpora-Takanwari line will be observed from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM on both days.

The affected areas include Sangam, Shanglipora, Takanwari and adjoining areas.

Residents and businesses in these areas may experience a complete interruption in electricity supply during the scheduled shutdown hours.

Soura Areas to Face Outage

KPDCL has also announced a shutdown affecting several areas of Srinagar.

The 33 KV Wanganpora-Soura SKIMS line will remain shut from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM on September 26 and September 30.

The shutdown will affect electricity supply to Upper Soura, 90 Feet, Zoonimar, Anchar, Bahlachpora and adjoining areas.

Consumers in these areas have been advised to plan accordingly, particularly those dependent on electricity for essential household, commercial and institutional activities.

Major Shutdown on September 19

A wider power shutdown has been scheduled for September 19, affecting several areas in Ganderbal and Bandipora districts.

KPDCL said shutdowns of the 33 KV Lar-Tulmulla feeder, 33 KV Safapora feeder and 33 KV Army feeder will be observed from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The affected areas include Lar, Waliwar, Watlar, Repora, Tulmulla, Dangerpora, Theeru, Larsun, Safapora, Gratabal, Chewa, Jarokabagh, Manasbal, Nowgam, Inderkoot, Wangipora, Nesbal, Naninara, Sumbal Bazar, Hajin, Preng, Madwan, Banyari, Hakbara and Chandergeer, besides adjoining areas.

The shutdown is expected to affect both residential and commercial consumers in the listed areas.

Outages Scheduled for September 21, 23 and 25

Another series of shutdowns has been announced for September 21, 23 and 25.

According to KPDCL, the shutdown will involve the 132 KV Power Transformer-II, 33 KV Army feeder, 33 KV Safapora feeder, 33 KV Lar/Tulmulla feeder and 33 KV Kurhama feeder.

The affected areas include Kurhama, Youngoora, Barsoo, Old Dab, Checki Baba Salun, Sainik School, Rabitar, Kondbal, GCET Safapora, Lar, Waliwar, Watlar, Repora, Tulmulla, Dangerpora, Theeru, Larsun, Safapora, Gratabal, Chewa, Jarokabagh, Manasbal, Nowgam, Inderkoot, Wangipora, Nesbal, Naninara, Sumbal Bazar, Hajin, Preng, Madwan, Banyari, Hakbara and Chandergeer.

Electricity supply in these areas will remain affected between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM on the scheduled dates.

More Areas to Face Shutdown on September 29 and October 1

KPDCL has further announced shutdowns affecting a large number of areas on September 29 and October 1.

The shutdown will involve the 132 KV Habbak/Badampora feeder and 132 KV Kangan/Badampora feeder.

The affected areas include Kurhama, Yangpora, Baroosa, Old Dab, Checki Baba Salun, Sainik School, Rabitar, Kondbal, GCET Safapora, Lar, Waliwar, Watlar, Repora, Tulmulla, Dangerpora, Theeru, Larsun, Safapora, Central University, Gratbal, Jarakobagh, Hajin, Preng, Madwan, Banyari, Hakbara, Army Camp, Chandgeer, Aloosa, Malangam, Quil, Nishat, Papchan, Ajas, SK Bala, Sadunara, Bazipor, Nadihal, Guroora, Argam, Wanpora, Dawar, NHPC, Tragbal, Peerbaba and Razdan Top, along with adjoining areas.

The shutdown will remain in force from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM on both dates.

KPDCL Issues Advance Notice

The scheduled shutdowns are part of planned work on power transmission and distribution infrastructure.

KPDCL has issued the schedule in advance so that consumers in the affected areas can make arrangements for the temporary disruption.

The outages will occur on different dates and at different locations, with some areas affected on more than one occasion because of work involving multiple feeders and transmission infrastructure.

Residents are advised to keep essential electrical and battery-powered equipment charged ahead of the scheduled shutdowns.

The corporation has also urged consumers to take note of the timings, as electricity supply is expected to remain affected throughout the specified maintenance periods.

With several major feeders and transmission lines involved, the shutdown schedule covers a wide area across parts of Srinagar, Ganderbal and Bandipora districts.

Consumers in the affected areas can plan their household and business activities around the announced outage timings to minimise inconvenience.
