J&K Intern Doctors to Meet Omar Abdullah Over Stipend Hike Demand

The delegation is currently at the office of the Chief Minister’s Advisor and is being led by All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA) leader Dr. Tasaduk, along with Joint Secretary Dr. Akib, Dr. Shahnawaz, Dr. Tanish Mansotra and Dr. Faraz.
The intern doctors are seeking an immediate increase in their stipend, which they say has remained pending despite repeated representations. They have maintained that their peaceful protest will continue until the government formally approves the hike and issues a written Government Order (GO).
Government Invites Intern Doctors for Talks
The latest development came after government officials contacted AIMSA representatives on Wednesday night and requested that a delegation of intern doctors be sent for discussions.
Dr. Mohammad Momin Khan, AIMSA State In-Charge, confirmed the communication and welcomed the government’s decision to engage with the protesting interns.
“Last night, I received a call from the government requesting us to send an intern delegation for dialogue. We welcome this initiative and hope the government will take a concrete decision on the long-pending stipend issue,” Dr. Khan said.
He said the delegation would place the concerns of intern doctors before the government and seek an early and concrete resolution to the issue.
Interns Seek Written Government Order
The protesting doctors have made it clear that discussions alone will not be enough to end their agitation.
Dr. Khan reiterated that there would be no compromise on the demand for a stipend revision and that the protest would be withdrawn only after the increase is formally approved and communicated through a written Government Order.
The delegation is expected to highlight the concerns of intern doctors from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir and press the government for immediate action.
The meeting with the Chief Minister is being seen as an important opportunity for the government and the protesting doctors to resolve the issue through dialogue and bring an end to the ongoing agitation.
