Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Resigns

Breaking News : Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Resigns

Pradhan shared the announcement in a post on X, marking a major development in the ongoing nationwide protests. His resignation had been the primary demand of demonstrators who have been camping at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar for more than a month.

The Centre and CJP had remained deadlocked during earlier rounds of negotiations, with the protesters insisting that there could be no agreement unless Pradhan stepped down. On Saturday morning, CJP leaders reiterated that the minister’s resignation was non-negotiable.

With Pradhan announcing his resignation, the government has effectively addressed all three major demands raised by the protesters. During Friday’s discussions, the Centre had already agreed in principle to provide protection from legal action for protesters and to consider compensation for the families of students who reportedly died by suicide following the NEET paper leak controversy.

Pradhan’s Message

In his statement on X, Dharmendra Pradhan said he respected the aspirations and expectations of India’s youth and thanked Prime Minister Modi for giving him the opportunity to serve the country.

“I hold deep respect for the aspirations, sentiments, and rightful expectations of the youth of this country. Realising the dreams of India’s young generation has been the moral resolve of our political and social life. I express my gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister for the opportunity given to me to serve the nation under his visionary leadership.”

The resignation is expected to have a significant impact on the ongoing negotiations between the Centre and protest leaders, with attention now turning to the government’s next steps on examination reforms and measures to prevent future paper leaks.
