Two Drug Peddlers Uzair and Ashraf Arrested with Charas During Patrolling in Anantnag

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday apprehended two alleged drug peddlers during routine patrolling in Mirgund area of Anantnag district.

According to a police spokesperson, a team from Police Station Anantnag was conducting routine patrols near Rehmat Alam Masjid in Mirgund when it stopped and checked two persons. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The individuals were identified as Uzair Ashraf Wani, son of Mohammad Ashraf Wani, and Mujtaba Mehraj, son of Mehraj Ahmad Bhat. Both are residents of Sarnal in Anantnag.

During the checking, police recovered charas from their possession, the spokesperson said.

Following the recovery, police registered FIR No. 291/2026 under Sections 8/20 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Anantnag.

An investigation into the case has been launched, police said.

The police reiterated its commitment to tackling drug trafficking and preventing the spread of drugs in society. It also urged members of the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and share information about drug-related activities.
