J&K Govt Orders Darbar Move to Srinagar, Offices to Reopen on May 4

The Jammu and Kashmir Administration on Wednesday announced the annual summer shift of government offices from Jammu to Srinagar.

Closing Dates for Jammu Offices

According to an order issued by the General Administration Department:

  • Offices following a five-day week will close in Jammu on April 30 after office hours.
  • Offices working six days a week will close on May 2.

Limited Staff During Shift

Departments moving during the transition period will keep only 33 percent staff strength or a maximum of 10 employees, whichever is lower.

Transport Arrangements Made

Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation has been directed to arrange buses for employees on May 1 and May 3.

Advance booking for travel will begin from April 20.

Officials said support services such as cranes, standby buses, and mobile workshops will also be available in case of vehicle breakdowns.

Police and Medical Support

Jammu and Kashmir Police will provide escorts for the convoys and help movement through important routes including:

  • Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Tunnel
  • Banihal-Qazigund Tunnel

Medical facilities will also be available at several highway locations including:

  • Jhajjar Kotli
  • Udhampur
  • Ramban
  • Banihal
  • Qazigund

Travel Allowance and Salary

Employees completing the move within the official dates will receive a special travel allowance of ₹25,000.

Advance April salary will be released on April 29.

Office Timings in Srinagar

After reopening in Srinagar:

  • Civil Secretariat offices: 9:30 am to 5:30 pm
  • Other six-day schedule offices: 10:00 am to 4:30 pm

The annual move is carried out each year to shift administration to Srinagar for the summer season.
