Thousands Attend Jamiat Ahle Hadith Ijtema at Veer in Anantnag Kashmir

ANANTNAG: Thousands of people gathered at the Sports Stadium in Veer, Bijbehara, on Sunday to attend the annual Ijtema organised by the Jamiat Ahle Hadith Jammu and Kashmir. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

People from different parts of the Valley, particularly Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian, reached the venue from the early morning to participate in the day-long religious gathering and listen to prominent Islamic scholars.

The large gathering created a deeply spiritual atmosphere at the Veeri sports ground, with devotees attending lectures and religious addresses throughout the day.

Event rescheduled due to rainfall

The religious conference was initially scheduled to be held in July but had to be postponed after heavy and continuous rainfall caused waterlogging at the venue.

The organisers subsequently rescheduled the event, which drew a large number of devotees from surrounding areas and other districts of Kashmir.

Many attendees travelled to Veeri in private vehicles and buses, while people from nearby villages also reached the venue on foot.

Scholars stress Quran and Sunnah

Several prominent Islamic scholars addressed the gathering, focusing on religious guidance, spiritual development and the social challenges facing society.

Renowned scholar Molana Mushtaq Ahmad Veeri was among the main speakers at the conference.

In his address, he stressed the importance of following the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah, while urging people to develop piety, humility and good moral character in their daily lives.

The speakers also discussed a range of social issues and called upon the community to work collectively towards addressing problems affecting families and young people.

Appeal to tackle drug abuse

The growing problem of drug addiction among young people was among the major concerns highlighted during the gathering.

Speakers urged parents, teachers, religious scholars and community members to work together to protect young people from substance abuse and guide them towards healthy and productive lives.

They also emphasised the importance of stronger family and community support for young people facing social and personal difficulties.

Call for social and moral reform

The scholars called for greater attention to moral values and social responsibility.

They urged people to avoid unnecessary and excessive spending on weddings and encouraged families to keep marriage ceremonies simple.

Speakers also called for greater support for orphans, poor families and other vulnerable sections of society, stressing that helping those in need is an important social and religious responsibility.

The importance of brotherhood, mutual respect and tolerance was also emphasised during the religious proceedings.

Extensive arrangements made for devotees

Given the large turnout, organisers and local volunteers made arrangements to facilitate the movement and participation of devotees.

Hundreds of Khadimeen and volunteers were deployed around the venue to assist attendees and manage different aspects of the gathering.

Traffic management arrangements were put in place along the Bijbehara-Veeri corridor, while designated parking areas were arranged to manage the large number of vehicles arriving at the venue.

Medical aid posts were also established to respond to emergencies, while drinking water was made available for devotees throughout the event.

Special arrangements were made for elderly people to ensure that they could participate in the proceedings comfortably.

Ijtema concludes with collective prayers

The religious gathering concluded in the evening with collective Dua, with prayers offered for peace, prosperity and spiritual well-being.

Prayers were also made for the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and for relief from difficulties facing society.

The large participation in the Veeri Ijtema reflected the continued importance of religious gatherings in Kashmir’s social and spiritual life, bringing together people from different districts for a day centred on faith, religious learning and community concerns.
