Rawalpindi SSP Operations Tariq Mehboob announced the arrests during a press conference, saying investigators had reviewed footage from more than 100 CCTV cameras and used human intelligence and other resources to identify those allegedly involved.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Ayesha’s father Fazal, her brother Bashir, paternal cousin Ehsan, her father’s uncle Rozi Khan, and Yasin, the son of her paternal cousin.

Police allege murder plan was made in Lower Dir

According to investigators, the alleged murder plan was prepared in the family’s native area of Lower Dir. Police claim that Ayesha’s father and brother planned the killing with the alleged assistance of other family members.

The arrests represent a major development in the case, which initially focused on unidentified attackers.

Ayesha, who had a significant following on TikTok, was shot dead in Taxila earlier this month. According to earlier reports, she was travelling in a car with her younger siblings when motorcycle-borne attackers allegedly opened fire.

She was reportedly struck in the neck. The vehicle later went out of control and collided with a dumper, leaving her siblings injured.

CCTV footage helped investigators trace suspects

Police said investigators examined more than 100 CCTV recordings during the investigation. They also collected information through human intelligence and questioned suspected facilitators and other people linked to the case.

Earlier, police had arrested Kashif alias Kashi, who was among those nominated in the murder case. Investigators were also examining whether other individuals had assisted in the alleged killing.

The investigation initially followed a different line. According to the FIR reported earlier, Ayesha’s father had suspected that a financial dispute involving two men could have been linked to the murder.

He had reportedly told police that his daughter had received threats over money and had lodged a complaint in Islamabad.

Police say prosecution will be based on evidence

SSP Operations Tariq Mehboob said investigators would continue examining all aspects of the case before submitting a challan to the relevant court.

He said police would ensure that the arrested suspects were prosecuted on the basis of solid evidence and that anyone found responsible would face punishment under the law.

The investigation is still underway, and the allegations against the arrested suspects have yet to be established in court.

The case has attracted widespread attention because of Ayesha Gulmana’s social media following and the significant shift in the investigation, with police now alleging that members of her own family may have been involved in her killing.
