Bengaluru Man Detained, Trying to Reach Afghanistan to Fight Pakistan
Police in Bengaluru have detained a 25-year-old man from West Bengal over alleged links with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and suspicious online activities, officials said.
The man, identified as Asafool Mallik, was detained in the Jigani area of Bengaluru. Police allege that he had been in contact with a person linked to the TTP and had discussed travelling to Afghanistan to join the organisation. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Mallik is a native of Naopara village in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district. He had been living near APC Circle in Jigani and was working as a security guard at Tata Advanced Limited in the Jigani Industrial Area since December 2025.
Police Investigate Suspicious Online Activity
According to police, they received information about Mallik’s alleged suspicious activities while conducting patrols in the Bommasandra Industrial Area.
Police subsequently questioned him and examined his alleged online connections.
Officials said Mallik told investigators that he was angry over what he believed were atrocities against Muslims in Pakistan, including alleged attacks on mosques and civilians. He also reportedly expressed anger over Pakistan’s position on the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Police allege that Mallik was being encouraged to retaliate if Muslims faced difficulties in India.
Alleged Facebook Contact With TTP-Linked Individual
Investigators claim that Mallik established contact through Facebook with a person identified as Imran Haider from Afghanistan, who is suspected of having links with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
Police said Mallik allegedly sought Haider’s assistance in travelling to Afghanistan and had applied for a visa.
However, according to investigators, Mallik later abandoned the plan because of financial difficulties and family responsibilities.
Police Examine Mobile Phone Records
After detaining Mallik, police examined his mobile phone and allegedly recovered chats between him and Haider.
Investigators also found records of several voice calls and audio conversations, according to police.
Authorities are now examining the chats, recordings and other material recovered from the phone to determine the extent and nature of Mallik’s alleged links with the terror network.
Police are continuing their investigation to establish whether the alleged contacts involved any wider conspiracy or plans for violence in India.
