The CJP has alleged that Bhardwaj was involved in an assault on its supporters during a peaceful demonstration at Jantar Mantar. The march began at Patel Chowk and was led by CJP spokesperson Saurav Das and co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka.
A large number of party supporters joined the march, raising slogans and demanding accountability from the police.
The protest follows an incident at Jantar Mantar in which a CJP supporter reportedly sustained injuries after a group of people entered the protest site.
Speaking to reporters during the march, Das said a minor girl had been associated with the protest since its beginning and was regularly accompanied by her father, Sanjay.
“There is a minor who has been associated with our protest right from Day One. Her father, Sanjay Ji, also comes with her,” Das said.
He alleged that the protesters were holding a peaceful sit-in when some members of a group entered the protest site and allegedly resorted to violence.
“We were holding a peaceful sit-in protest when some members of a criminal gang entered our protest and resorted to violence,” he said.
The CJP said the Delhi Police has registered an FIR in connection with the alleged assault but accused the authorities of not taking strong enough action against those named in the case.
Das said the party marched to the police station to maintain pressure on the authorities and demand progress in the investigation.
The area around the Parliament Street Police Station witnessed a heavy deployment of Delhi Police and security personnel as barricades were put in place to manage the gathering and maintain law and order.
CJP leaders said they would continue to press for action against those allegedly responsible and seek justice for the supporters who were injured during the Jantar Mantar incident.
