A major fire broke out in the Warnow area of Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday evening, destroying around 15 shops and causing heavy financial losses to local traders.
The fire erupted in the main market and quickly spread through the commercial establishments, reducing shops, goods and other property worth lakhs of rupees to ashes.

Soon after the incident was reported, teams from the Fire and Emergency Services, along with Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel and local volunteers, rushed to the scene.
After a strenuous joint operation, the fire was brought under control before it could spread to nearby residential and commercial buildings.
No casualties reported
Fortunately, no deaths or injuries were reported in the incident.
However, the fire has left several shopkeepers facing serious financial difficulties after their businesses and livelihoods were destroyed.
The affected traders have appealed to the district administration to provide immediate relief, compensation and rehabilitation support to help them recover from the losses.
The exact cause of the fire remains unknown.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and an investigation is underway to determine how the blaze started. (News Of Kashmir)
