A Class 7 student was allegedly raped by a cab driver and his friend in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials said on Wednesday.
The two accused have been arrested and booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, officials said.
According to the police, a man approached Gursai Police Station on Wednesday afternoon and lodged a complaint regarding his daughter. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The complaint alleged that the girl was returning home on September 6 when she boarded a cab driven by Zahoor Mushtaq alias Sonu.
Police said the driver allegedly took the girl to his house, where his friend Mohd Irfan was also present.
The officials said the two accused allegedly kept the girl there for three days and repeatedly sexually assaulted her.
Following the complaint, police acted swiftly and arrested both accused.
The officials said the case has been registered under relevant sections dealing with gang rape, kidnapping and wrongful confinement, along with provisions of the POCSO Act.
Further investigation into the case is underway, police said.
The allegations are yet to be tested before a court, and the accused are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
