The decision was announced by the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday. According to the official communique, President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Saxena to discharge the functions of the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir in addition to his existing responsibilities as Ladakh LG.
The appointment will remain in effect during Manoj Sinha’s absence on leave.
Sinha took charge as the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir on August 7, 2020.
The Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said the President was pleased to appoint Vinai Kumar Saxena to discharge the functions of the J&K Lieutenant Governor “in addition to his own duties” during the absence, on leave, of Manoj Sinha.
Saxena will therefore handle the additional responsibilities of Jammu and Kashmir while continuing to serve as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.
